Guys, I have to say that I am extremely excited. Recently I have been looking for a way to make some extra dough, aside from my 9-5 job. I've been doing a hell of alot of research on ways to make money online, as I am a bored software programmer, and have successfully worked out a way to pull in an extra $100-200 per week with very little work at all, and I've just started.

The first thing I noticed in my search is that there are alot of cocksuckers out there trying to capitalize off of regular guys trying to make some extra coin. There are no more scams than in the world of making money. More than that, trying to find a practical method of making money with other fuckers trying to confuse you and protect their territory is even harder. So to give something back to the MoS community, I'm going to let you guys in on what I've been doing lately, step by step, to make some relatively easy money through affiliate marketing online.

What are you going to need to do this? Most importantly half a brain and a little work ethic. Don't be an idiot and don't be a lazyass is all that I ask. If you think about things and do some research before giving up, you can do just as well as I did, in fact some things I did pretty half-assed myself. But I learned from my mistakes and I going to give you alot of shortcuts.

What is it going to cost you? Very little, if any. If you want to make money with nothing to invest, then I suggest you go on the street and beg - nothing comes for free. I got up and running for $25 (web hosting costs), practically nothing.

How long is it going to take? I am going to show you everything to do so that it won't take more than 1 or 2 days before you have a marketing campaing going at full steam. There really isnt much work to do considering the potential for money to make.

So keep watching this thread – I will go from beginning to end so you guys know exactly what you need to do.

Alright let's get right to it. In short what we are going to do is create websites to make commissions off sponsored promotions as an affiliate. Simple enough concept, done a million times, but also very easy to make jack shit, and almost as easy to waste time and money. This is where I come in - to tell you how you can (hopefully) replicate my success.

I like this business because once you are setup there is very little maintenance, its almost a pure cash cow. Also, you get what you put into it – if you want to make alot of money, you invest alot of time and money, if you only want some extra cash flow to spend on blow and hookers, then take it easy (and save some for me!).

For those who aren't already weBathmateasters, to start a website all you will need is a hosting company, a domain, and the actual site you are serving. I am going to give you a kickass deal I found on a good hosting company that has alot of good features like high bandwidth limits (3.5 Terabytes/Month which you shouldn't come even close to using), one-click installs of software (that we will need later), all for a stupid cheap price.

What you'll need to do is sign up with DreamHost - Web Hosting by DreamHost Web Hosting: Web Sites, Domain Registration, WordPress, Ruby on Rails, all on Debian Linux! - under their one-year level 1 plan. I have a promo code that you can use that will give you a year for $25! That's extremely cheap compared to other plans. When you sign up, pick the year long level 1 plan (for something like $120 a year), enter the promo code: “QJB” (no quotes), and the price will go down to $25. I'll be straight up and tell you that yes I do make a very small bonus off referrals, but I am doing this to help y'all make money. I've been on this board since the beginning and I am definitely no scammer.

Once you're signed up all you will need to do is setup your hosting and choose a domain name (that will come in the next post). Setup is pretty easy, just follow the tutorials and if you need extra help there is a forum there with lots of good info, shouldn't be very hard.

Also, if you guys have any questions at all about this whole deal, shoot me a PM and I'll be glad to help. In the next post we will choose a domain name and setup WordPress, which we'll use to build the site.

Before I go any further about creating our site, let me explain where the fuck we are going with this. What we want to do is build a site to use so that we can promote offers sponsored by an affiliate marketing company. We drive traffic to take action on their offers, they make money off those customers, and give us a little cut for helping them out. These actions can either be entering their email (email suBathmateit), entering their zip code (zip suBathmateit), or buying something. I do email and zip suBathmateits, quick dirty cash.

So you'll want to base your site around some offer, coverting as much traffic as possible to take action on their promotions. Success depends on choosing the right offer, and more importantly marketing it in a way that is profitable for you.

The first step is choosing a product/offer that you'd like to promote. This must obviously be something that people are interested in, and something that is “money”, ie attracting people who aren't tight asses with their info and/or wallet. Maps sites, for example, have found that maps are not quite the money tool as they thought they were – simply because people looking for directions usually already knew what they wanted, they just wanted to know how to get there.

I'll tell you what NOT to get into: credit cards, ringtones, or . Seriously these are all areas that have very powerful players and most people generally agree to stay away unless you have some sort of edge. Be different – target something like bathroom products, or religious crap. Or pick something that you think is going to be hot, a new movie or new phone (not iPhone), etc. If you think something is getting hot, check it out on Google Trends and see the graph of how many people have been searching for it lately. If you see it steeply rising, then you are in perfect position to get in and clean up.

Also, now is a good time to start thinking about keywords that you will use for your campaign. Keywords are of paramount importance in online marketing and SEO. You will have to base your site around keywords that people are searching for – the only other way to get traffic is by links and since this is a new site you won't be getting any that way.

So now that you know your offer you are going to promote, your niche let's say its the Simpsons movie, you will need to compile a list of keywords that you will target to drive traffic to your site. Using this tool: SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool , enter the most general term that applies to your campaign, for example “Simpsons movie”. This will give you a long list of search terms and the frequency that people have searched for them monthly, along with other useful data. You'll want to make sure enough people are searching for your shit in order for you to make any money from it. As long as most of the top part of the list is over 1,000 then you're golden. The top search term should have 20,000+ searches a month. Save that list of search terms, we'll use it later when pimping our site.

Ok back to building our site. Choose a domain name – luckily with Dreamhost you get one for free. This can be a tough one, but put yourself in the eyes of your customer and think what site name would they trust the most and be attracted to the most for your offer. Something like see-simpsons-movie.com would be good, or a generic one like vimmedia.com is good if you want to run multiple campaigns on subdomains, like vimmedia.com/simpsons-movie and vimmedia.com/tide-offers. Follow the guide on Dreamhost to setup the domain.

Also install WordPress (its there on the left). This is typically a blogging tool, but it can be used to easily make sites, even for newbs. When setting it up, pick a theme that will go well with your promotion.. it doesnt have to be perfect, since we can tweak it a little to fit our offer. Try visiting your site and make sure it works.

Next post I'll talk about a devising a good design for your campaign - one that will ideally make every single visitor click your ads and take action.

This shit sounds good, I need to some extra cash before I go on holiday, keep it up Quijji'

Before we start getting into designing a site, we of course need to know what we are going to be promoting. We need a hookup with an affiliate marketing company. These are the guys who will be providing the ads to us, and will be paying us the `cheddar`. It`s fairly easy to get signed up to an affiliate company, all you need is a half decent site going, the rest of the work is just suBathmateitting the application and letting them know what you`re planning on doing.

We`ll get to the application part a bit later, for now we need a site to show them we are not total dumbasses. Hopefully you have WordPress up and running, and have made some test posts. Go ahead and make 4-5 decent posts on your blog, in the same niche that you`re hoping to target with your marketing. For example, if you want to promote travel products, then post some travel articles. They don`t need to be super awesome, just take some time out to make your site at least look respectable.

Now that you have a non-pathetic site to show them, I`ll give you a linkup with the company that I deal with, they are a great company with good service and nice payouts. There are a shitload of offers for you to promote, and they will even help you get up and started if you have questions. Here is the link:

<a href='http://affiliates.copeac.com/signup/6619'>COPenis EnlargementAC Signup Link - Bookmark This</a>

If you want to help me out for making you some money, make sure to use this link as it has my referral in it. If not, the extra little bit of commissions will go into their pockets, up to you.

Give them a call during business hours to speed up acceptance, tell them that you want to start a marketing campaign for xyz type products, and you do your promotions through pay-per-click advertising.

If you want a head start, go here to see what offers are available to advertise:

Copeac - Communicate - Perform - Achieve

Once you are accepted, take a look at the offers that they have for you to promote. For our site, it will be easiest to pick one that has a large banner (we are going to stick it right in the middle of our page). Forget about the email promotions.

Think about how you are going to get people to click on your ad and take action. Think about the keywords that you will use, keywords that people search for in Google, that will attract people who are willing to spend time entering their info or buying. Think about how well you know xyz niche, what you can write about it, what interesting info you have about it. Do some research to see who else is promoting something similar, and see how they do it. Google something like Simpsons Movie or whatever you`re doing, and note down how much competition there is, and the ways they are attracting traffic. Once you`ve made your final decision on a promotion you like, in the next post we`ll actually create the site.

This is a really good guide. How much extra cash can you make in about a month having a decent site?

Completely depends. I've seen total garbage sites making people 5-20 per day, and there are good well thought out ones that make hundreds daily.

Alright sorry about the delay guys, next part coming up. So you have a promotion in mind that you would like to offer, again going with the Simpsons movie idea. Remember our goal is to maximize the number of clickthrough's on our ad once people reach our site - doesn't matter if the page looks like a piece of shit (ok cosmetics matters a little), just make sure of this:

- The user is not distracted by too many links or too much text on-screen. You want them to go directly to your offer, not get sidetracked with a link to Yahoo Movies.
- The ad is part of the 'content' of the page. Having your ad as a passive banner is a good way to make nothing. Try to put a spin on the site so that it looks like your ad is a really good deal.
- Make the offer feasible. There are alot of "get a free laptop" type ads that are obviously bullshit. But try putting a spin on it: create 100 versions of the site each targeting a different city in the US, such as "Newark users, find out how you can take part in a special laptop promotion for those in your area", its at least slightly more believable. All you really need to do is create one page, and slightly modify it to target different audiences (taking no time at all), and there you have it - highly targeted ads that are more believable and use less competitive search terms.
- Your page looks somewhat legit, make a logo, privacy statement, contact email address etc.

I'm not going to show any screenshots as I don't want anyone to copy a design that is ineffective and/or untested. Just keep it simple, have your offer right in the center of the page (a 300 x 200 image or similar), and include some text that will include your keywords as well as entice the user to want to take part. If you are a learn-by-example guy, do a search for your promotion and see what the other guys are doing, looking at the sponsored links in Google. Almost surely you'll find an amateur site that will provide good pointers. Learn from other people's mistakes, not your own! Hehehe

Ok guys by request here is an example of a nice, simple landing page that will give you decent conversion.

Spyware - how to protect your PC

Good Points:

Ad focuses on the offers - they are in the center of the page and stand out by color and the animated images. Eyes lead right to the offer.

No distractions (other than the AdWords) - No links out from the page, keeps on topic.

Provides some information about spyware. This serves two purposes: relevant information on the page to increase your Quality Score in Google, this will be important later. Lends some credibility to the page and allows you to further sell the offer.

Bad Points:

Information about spyware, but doesn't take full advantage of the user's attention to sell the offer. Your job as an affiliate is to sell, if all you are doing is just being there and buying up ads, you will lose to much more established competition.

Too much AdWords - this might give you a little change, but not much compared to actually selling a product or gaining a lead (email). I would say it's ok to put it at the bottom of the page in case they are not interested in the offer and need something else to look at, might as well earn a little from an adwords click rather than having them click the back button and gain nothing.

A page like this should be VERY simple for you to create, and will get the job done. Now stop playing with your wang and start selling!

For this part, we need to nail down how to promote the damn site. The fastest and simplest way to do this (although its neither simple nor fast really) is to advertise your site via PPC (pay per click). There are several sites that offer this: Google Adwords of course, Yahoo Search Marketing (YSM), MSN Adcenter, Adbrite, 7search etc. Adwords is the gold standard at the moment, where all the big boys make most their money, but we are going to start off with Yahoo since its simpler and has less competition (ie cheaper). Since this is a short term project, we won`t worry about trying to get up in the search engine rankings, developing links and that.. all of our traffic will be paid.

You`ll first need to sign up for an account there Yahoo! Search Marketing - Sponsored Search - Choose a Signup Plan (self serve). Its going to cost a little to get some ads going initially, but it will be worth it one you start doubling and tripling your money. I`d recommend adding in $20 to start off with, this will give you about 200 clicks. On average with a decently designed site you`d get around 10% conversion on zip and email suBathmateits, leading to a gain of about $30-$40 dollars. How fast this happens depends on a whole bunch of factors: what youre promoting, how aggressively you bid on keywords, how many keywords you have, etc. What I like about this business is that not only is there a very high ROI, but the results are immediate, and there is very little risk.

So after you have been accepted and your account activated, you`ll need to setup your campaign. I won`t go into much detail, there`s alot of tutorials on Yahoo and other sites that will give you the mechanics. What you need to worry about now is keyword selection and ad writing. In the next post I`ll give you some pointers on writing a good ad and picking the right keywords that are cheap and will drive the sheeple to your site :D

This brings up the point I am wondering about. Are there legitimate, useful offers to present the average consumer or is this industry a shady business altogether? Many of the sample banners I look at, though well-designed, seem to me like they're likely junk offers with bogus claims.

I agree. Many of the products do seem to lack attraction. Also, please change that awfully bright yellow text.:O

Good point. Those are my posts from when the forum background was temporarily black and the yellow showed up real nice.
