Just checking in.

Hurt myself last year with a stretching device cos I got carried away. Just got up the courage to join this thing and very glad I did. I already feel like I'm winning - have learnt a lot from this site and just from hands on work have improved my FL. Stupid that this should be so important to me but it is - I was getting the dreaded turtle before and it is a horrible feeling. Right now I'm thinking that hands only exercises are the equivalent of free weights (in body building) and build a more usable well rounded strength as opposed to machines which just isolate one aspect. Maybe once I've built my strength up I could go back to multi hour strtching devices but not for a while. Thanks DLD for the awesome and inspirational site.

Looking forward to getting a LengthMaster soon, such a classy design - does not look sexual which matters to me. 10/10 for stealth.

Nozzle, welcome to the brotherhood. Glad you stepped out of the shadows and joined the conversation. I just did the same thing recently too and it has been massively helpful for me.

If you want to get back to stretching, remember it takes time to adjust to the device and ease into it little by little. There are some great threads in the SG section about routines, warm-ups (which are super important) and how to use the device properly. Overuse and too much tension can lead to injury with the extenders. In the end though, an extender is just one piece of a well rounded PE routine.

Check out the SRT program for ideas on how to get a well rounded routine. It's what I have been going by and it has gotten me amazing results.

Welcome to the Brotherhood Nozzle! Thanks for the kind words!

Welcome. I invite you to start a progress thread as it helps yiu stay accountable and connects you with us other guys who participate in them regularly.

What device were you using that made your injury, if you don't mind such a candid question? I ask, since at one time or another I've hurt myself with all of them. Just as you, I threw caution to the wind, but only juat a little too far.

I also, encourage you to get a LM as soon as it is financially possible. No doubt you are on to something with manuals being the backbone of a good routine, but I think your analogy is a bit off. Every good bodybuilder will do free weights for a few exercises, but isolation work to bring up lagging muscles or to emphasize one group specifically would need a machine or a cable device. The same would go for PE. Sure there are guys making insane gains in length and girth with the two hands the good lord gave em; however it is my thought that the length master streamlines these moves and can take them to new heights.
