I recommend the "lose it" app for your smartphone or ipod touch. You put in how much you want to lose/maintain, and it makes a calorie plan for you. Then, you can either input your food intake type or scan barcodes and it automatically adds it to your diet. You can also add exercise to it. Safely decrease calories in, and increase calories out...that leads to weight loss. I wasn't even trying to lose weight, but got addicted to keeping track in "lose it." It's a fantastic product and it is FREE. All the best to you.
