I am in the merseyside police force
http://www.merseyside.police.uk/ I like it alot.
The key to being a good cop is getting on the same level as the peeps ya dealing with, I can ... I have a unique ability that lets me judge body language and stuff like that, I can switch my personallity around to match someone that would be suited to talk to them, this opens them up like a book.
Also never loose ya calm , no matter what .... talk to ALL peeps with respect no matter what crime they have supposed to or have done .... your not the Judge/jury just the cop.
And dont just grab for the weapons you have, always try and get the guy down 1st ... well In the USA its another story as they have guns, but over here not many do .... so I just fight with them to the floor, handcuff and read the rights.
Its just good manners, being pro, staying calm, not letting power get to ya head and being able to remain open-minded about a case/person ... also being able to get on there level so to open them up.
I would say I am a good cop, I never loose my temper.
But when I have given interagations in the interview room I am nasty at times, to open them up or break them ..... this is allowed and the only way sometimes to get at the truth.....I can be VERY nasty indeed within the interview room, switch the recorder off and yell at them till they cry ... than crack them again and again for 6 hours straight lol till they shake as there nerves go hahahaha , bare in mind I wont get away with this if a Lawyer is present.
Anways good luck with it all, the police is the best teamwork org' in the world 2nd to the Military IMHO.
