Piece of flannel? Rubber pants?? You did this when you was younger??? I'm sure it didn't feel right, lol.

You want your abs to show? Then train them and eat properly and they will. Its very simple to get abs. Whats not simple is the effort and dedication it takes to get them. Sure some cats are born lucky. Some cats are born skinny. Some cats are born fat. Some cats are born with the ability to do whatever they want and still have abs. Meaning they can slam all the ice cream and junk food they want. Obviously you are not one of those cats. Sure, wearing a weight belt clinched tight against your stomach all day may help somewhat, but that is only in terms of keeping your stomach bloated. It simply prevents you from slamming your digestive system with food becaue it is cutting off the room of food your stomach can hold, therefore, you get full quicker which enables you from eating as much food. Is this good? Yes and no. But its not going to help you see your abs.

I don't know your current situtation but I can give you a few tips on how to get your abs to show:

1. Diet. I don't know what you look like or how fat you are. But this is common sense. You simply can't expect to have a great set of abs by drinking beer, eating fried chicken, and shoveling shit down your hatch. I mean that is common sense. I reccomend changing your diet around. I want YOU to post everything you consumed today on this forum. And don't bullshit either. I mean if you woke up and ate 4 eggs fried in butter with a shit load of grits, than fine. If you ate garlic bread and meatballs with pasta for lunch, fine. I don't give a shit. If you ate for a snack a bunch a damn candy, who cares. Fine. Its you. If you drank 3 cokes today, great. I want you to simply be honest. That way I can review your ways of eating and can help you change SIMPLE things to get simple results. You'd be surprised. Trust me. So be honest, and type out everything little thing you ate today and consumed. Even water. I don't care. Tell me. But please be honest. I want to know what an average day of eating looks like for you. Then I will help you give you a "magic" diet to help you see your abs.

2. Exercise. What kind of exercise do you get? Do you weight train? Do you run? Do you walk? What do you do for exercise? You can do your 1,000 crunches a day and that will get you no where. So tell me your exercise program. If you don't exercise and your inactive, fine. I am not going to hold that against you. I will give you and exercise program and incourage you to train, but I can't make you. Just be honest.

3. Your work habits. What time do you work? What is your work schedule? When you get off work what do you do? Do you do any drugs? This is very important. Look dawg, I could care less if you do coke, heroin, pot, alcohol, pain pills, whatever. But I need to know what you do if you do anything at all. If you don't then fine. But if you do, I need to know in order to tell you how I can make this plan work. So lay it all down on the line to me.

Alright dude. Get busy and let me know.

Peace,
VG

I dont smoke do drugs or fat, i box work out 3-5 times a week i dont need nobody to bitch i just tried to explain itas much as i rembered i just wanted to know if anbody heard of it or did it, when i tried it i used a wrap, it look like it work by compressing the fat. here's what i was talking about

''To specialize, try some abdominal work at the beginning, middle and the end of regular workouts. Or do one abdominal exercise between EACH of your normal movements. Speed results with a wide strip of flannel around the waist; cover it with rubber reducing pants or a wide belt made of inner tube. ''

Did you know that most professional bodybuilders, undoubtely the leanest people on the planet at contest time, hardly ever train their abs. Its all about the diet.

Sure, it doesn't hurt to train some abs to increase their look, shape, and detail. But we all have them. They just don't show because they are obscured by fat. But they are there.

Its all about your diet brother.

Yes we all have abs but some are smaller than others. it look funny when your chest and shoulders is way bigger than your small no defintion abs.

Personally, I would want my Chest and Shoulders to be way bigger than my abs.

Just look at this way. Train your abs for some defintion from time to time, but it will never make the difference in your midsection like diet does. Training abs 10%, Diet 90%. Trust me on that.

Do you have a eating plan your going to follow?

Diet dont matter as much with me, my abs have always been my weak point i would want my chest biggerthan my abs but what im saying is my chest and shoulders is well developed but my stomach look soft like a girls. i just started doing sit ups this year i had hernia surgery 1yr ago and thats probably why i never was a situp guy.

Yes, diet DOES matter as much. The reason your stomach looks soft is that you have fat covering your abs. Your body isn't built differently than everyone else's so that you can have "soft abs" at a low bodyfat percentage. Cut the fat, see the abs, and that's really all there is to it. If you're lifting right (heavy compound free weight lifts) then your abs are getting all the stimulation they really need. Sure, throw in some direct ab work, but nothing works the abs like squats, deads, military presses, oly lifts, etc. Except maybe old-time lifts like the windmill, bent press, two hands anyhow, etc. But no matter how you work them, they won't show unless you cut down to a low bodyfat percentage.

Well I would train your abs twice a week.
Do this:

Workout 1:
Crunches on a flat bench with your upper back hanging slightly off, this gives you a little more stretch than the standard crunch. Do 4 sets of 20-25 reps. Go very slow with the reps. If you can get more than 20-25 than your not doing them strictly enough. Go slow and make sure you feel the movement. This is not about how many reps you can get here, its about purposely fatiquing the muscle. Hell if you can only get 15, thats even better. Go slow and squeeze your abs.

Leg raises or knee raises on a chinup/ab station. After your assault on your abs with those crunches, you'll be lucky to get 15 here. Remember don't swing your legs up, slowly lift them up. 4 sets, 15-20 reps.

Machine crunches. Choose a weight that causes you to fail around 15-20 reps. 3 sets.

Workout 2:
Rope crunches, you can perform these over on the cable crossover station. 4 sets, 20-25 reps

Machine leg raises, 4 sets, 20-25 reps

Broomstick twists for the obliques, 4 sets of 100. On these remember not to turn your head. Your head should face forward the whole entire time, only your torso should twist.

That routine will help you build and define your abs. But, whats going to happen is, the abs are going to grow underneath and just push the fat out further. The fat is not going to leave. You will have an awesome set of abs under that adipose tissue. Your diet should look something like this:

Breakfast:
6 egg whites, 2 yolks
1/2 cup of oatmeal, plain
coffee, multi vitamin

Lunch:
grilled chicken breast, can of tuna, lean hamburger, grilled fish, lean cold cuts, choose one of those
cup of brown rice, or medium sweet potato, wheat bread, or oatmeal again

Before you workout:
have a protein shake, 1/2 cup of oatmeal, and a granny smith apple

After training or dinner:
A meal similar to lunch

late night snack: choose any of these:
Jerky
rice cakes with natural peanut butter
protein shake
boiled eggs
cold cuts
nothing sugary or loaded with to many carbs.

Drink at least a gallon of water a day. You would be suprised how much this helps with the fat burning process. Plus it cleans you out to.

He is exactly right.

I wish i had a pic but my body fat is only 8.5-9% i only have a little bf what im saying is i can see my abs but there small what i meant by they look soft its not the bf that much its i have to squeeze them to get them hard and to show deep i want that without squeezing them. Its like a 5'5 120lb guys abs on a 6'4 200 lb 8%bf guy you see what im trying to say i need to get them bigger i dont like that 1960's look i want a stomach of large abs.

and im that 5' 5" 120lb guy and i know what dees talking about im a skinny guy maybe i have too much BF but if i lost it i would even skinnier.

so how is it possible to cut down on BF% and have defined abs if your already thin the only way is working out. Ive started the crunches and am noticing a difference so id say for skinny guys the ratio is more like 30% Diet and 70% Exercise.

Im no pro or anything just my opinion but really i am totally unsure on how it all works it would be nice if someone knows of a good site that explains how training the abs works.
