I never thought I'd ever type this, but right now I'm listening to Bach's Goldberg Variations, performed by Glenn Gould (the 1981 recording...his last ever). I've never been much of a Bach fan at all. I mean, I certainly recognize that he was a genius, and as a composer, of course I study his music, but it hasn't been until the last month that I actually enjoyed listening to his music. Not all of it, but some of his keyboard music is absolutely beautiful, and Gould just made it absolutely come alive.

I challenge any of you to name one modern pop/rock/metal/whatever musician (aside from traditional composers such as perhaps John Williams) whose music will be looked upon as the standard 250 years after their death.

I listen to pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I see a lot of people are into classical music, which I listen to at times, too. My family has a strong musical streak from both sides (mother's side in particular; she's a piano teacher), and I myself have played cello for 4 years (I play bass nowadays). I have had the privilege of being introduced to ''true'' music at a very early age, not just the shit that's on MTV, so I can appreciate good classical music when I hear it.

I do listen to some rap and hip hop (old school Snoop, 2pac mainly), metal (Slayer, Pantera, Mudvayne), and a lot of funk, both old and new. Red Hot Chili Peppers is, and always will be, one of my favorite bands of all time. Some ''true'' funk legends that I dig include Tower of Power, the Meters, George Clinton, Ohio Players, Average White Band and Marcus Miller, just to name a few.

well lets see.... i listen to mostly punk rock. but i also listen to rock, 80s, grunge, metal, techno, dance, alternative.... other stuff i cant think of cus im so tired... sorry
