sponge,
>I have stopped all hanging till things heal up.<
I think that is the worst thing you can do. When I had discoloration, I would simply cut back on time and/or weight. I found the discoloration would go away whether I was hanging or not. But I also found that if I took time off, even a day or so, the discoloration would come back after I started again, sometimes even at low weights.
Just like many other things, the discoloration is a sign of deformation. It is a sign that the soft tissues have been stressed, and they are reacting to the stress. If you do not continue to apply the stress, in a consistant manner, the soft tissues will never adapt.
>I got some Arnica gel to help too. About how long does it take this stuff to work?<
For me, a day or two at most. Be sure you have the Arnica gel, 7-12% concentration.
>This never happened before and it's like there is something wrong in that area. I did manual jelqing for over a year and never had this. I got some Arnica gel and I started using it 3-4 times a day. The dark areas go back close to normal but are still a little dark after about an hour or so. It's like the blood vessels are broken in those spots or something. Has anyone else had a problem like this?<
Many have had these problems. I would say it is almost normal. It seems most guys do not want to give the soft tissues time to adapt, especially when they change angles, and are applying new stresses to different tissues. Seldom do they lower the weight properly at a new angle.
