Your position doesn't make any difference buddy. Do what ever is most comfortable for you. When jelqing you want to be around a 70% erection for best results.
 
I usually do my jelqing sitting down and I alternate the angle from up to down to straight out. As Beard stated, I try to maintain my erection level between 50 and 70%.
 
I may be rare but i like to jelq at around 90% I feel I get better expansion

I wouldn't say rare Dread, there are probably several people that do that. I find it difficult to get a good squeeze when I get that high eq, kinda like trying to squeeze a rock, lol
 
I've read a lot of reports on the forums through searching in google. A lot of heavy girth gainers have gained 1 - 1 1/4in girth and attribute it mostly to jelqing combined with horse squeezes and Ulis.

My theory is by jelqing your training your cock to supply more blood flow in a moving fashion up the shaft. That's why after pumping it doesn't stay forever. Bc it's not accustomed to holding more than it's normal amount of blood. I'm sure everyone knows this.

I say rate because most jelq guides says 70% Max which I think at the start definitely start at the lower side

I can tell you personally I've seen fantastic results doing this. Gained about .2 inches in 2 months on girth by doing 100 jelqs, 3 minutes of squeezes/ULI repeated three times every evening. Only problem is I overdid it... I was only 2-3 months into PE and after a session had a ton of swelling on my right side. I couldn't do manual stretches without getting this fire like burning sensation on the right side. Forced me to take 3 weeks plus off. My suggestion is to work into it. I'm bout month two working back into it and don't plan on doing any type of serious squeezes until month four. I'm increasing my routine monthly.
 
I sit at about 95% erect. I never liked jelqing standing up but I am very lazy :)
 
I jelqed for two sessions and noticed I was feeling a slight pain at the left side of my penis base area. That's a sign of thrombosis so I stopped right away. I only follow routines and exercises recommended by DLD and that's how I've managed to avoid injuries throughout my PE journey.
