Its a BIG ISSUE now on the web, when you surf Cookies are placed inside your computer and can track your movements around the web and feedback to its source whom collects data on your surfing habits for mainly advertising purposes etc. These cookies can be PAINS IN THE ARSE and spyware can get inside, malware, pestware whatever the name be it gets inside. Pop-ups and banners that fly-up when you open certain pages like MICROSOFT HOTMAIL or MY lol EzBoard site ZULULAND. Its a menace and people get scared, no need with the right kit you can STOP all this. I use AtGuard and it blocks all this shit, infact it asks you do you want to EXCEPT or BLOCK. It also has a SMALL built-in firewall but I disable myn. I have the cookie, refer and ad blocker enabled. It blocks refers, ads and cookies. It already has a nice list inside it and you can add your own stuff anytime. Goto this site http://www.vanish.org/security/atguard.htm and download it, its free.
Good piece of kit and I HAVE NO ISSUES on my EzBoard account now, blocks all the shiet even there. Just be aware that sometimes this baby is tooooo secure and kinda kills the cookie from sites like this premature, you need the cookie to log in etc so you might have to log in a few times more than normal.

Thanks Red!! Been looking for something just like this! Just downloaded/installed this program a little bit ago, and I have now stopped getting those damn internet explorer add....most of which were coming from "bullseye network". My DSL is back to acting like a DSL connection!

or ya could just get a mac:)

just to let ya know, its not exactly freeware but it is, its ripped by F.O.S.I., which is a warez group. not that there is anything wrong with it, just wanted to let ya know. :)

Ok, this program worked for the first dayish Red...then the pop ups were back as bad as before. Kittie recommended Firefox browser (from Mozilla)...I have that installed now...and it's working 100% better. ZERO pop ups!!

Good for you, I however havent had any issues with the software and it continues to block 100%. Its possible you didnt set the settings correct.

Okay guys when this is installed, makesure you have it so the thing runs when Windows starts-up, thatway your blocking when the computer starts into motion.
If you dont see that than simply find AtGuard in the programs list via the start method on your windows machines. Goto options, look at bottom right and see 'startup options' tick run at system start-up box and apply it. Now go into the WEB tab at the top and go across the right - you'll see 'ad blocking' 'privacy' 'active content' you want 'privacy' so click that. You will see another box below this, with 'cookies' 'HTTP headers [refers]' browser and email. Set the lot to be blocked. Than apply. Exit the program. Now when you sufr the net, boxes will pop-up FROM THIS PROGRAM asking you 'do you want to allow such a thing' well if it aint needed like email and access to reguler sites such as this BLOCK IT....especially . Block the fucking lot. It adds them into a list, which can be seen later on in web dialogue of the program should you want to delete the choice you made, possible via accident. As you surf you'll notice that AT THE TOP of your screen [where this program displays info] that the Ads, cookies and refers stats goes up and up. This is how many of the bastards its blocked. I get hundreads and hundreads eachtime I surf, but it doesnt block EVERYONE...no blocker does that I have seen thus far. I have my browsers set-up so they also block ads, such as K-ameleon, Avant Browser and FireFox, so they kinda mop-up after it. Even they make mistakes, so I have Cookiewall also running which blocks cookies....it asks etc....my point is that you should have other things running incase it doesnt block everything. It does block ALMOST everything you want. Give it ago and if you got problems than ask me and I will help.
