Ok I lift all the time the one problem i know i have is i don't eat a very good diet. I eat healthy but very inconsistantly and i know this is why i have a issue with gaining strenght and muscle mass. The other problem with this is i belive iam lactose intollerant. I can eat cheese, drink buttermilk, and eat things such as sour cream. BUT i cannot drink regular milk without it closing my throat and hurting my stomach. THey protein drink i have is whey and i have had a allergic reaction once before from drinking a protein drink. Well iam dedicated and got more and almost had a allergic reaction the other day from it. I usually can take it with food and iam fine but for some reason the stuff just got to me the other day.. Anyways my question is is what sort of problem do i have lactose intollerant or am i allergic to something in the shake, and what kind of shake should i do?

list the ingredients in your protein powder. And if you can't get protein from powder or milk...do what you can to have as much meat and fish as you can. Also, are you allergic to eggs? These 3 sources alone can seriously add up if you have them each day. Also if your sources of carbs have a good amount of protein as well...such as baked beans, or whole wheat pasta...that will help also.

How much do you weigh?
What are your goals?
What does your daily diet look like?

Just some questions that might help if you answer them...

Go see a physical trainer or a nutritionist.
Some one who has broad knowledge about this can probably give you the best advice.

But I agree with estaban. Meat and fish are good sources of protien. But too much meat can also get you a little chubby.
Eggs are great too. However, you shouldn't eat the eggs raw.

personally a great source of protein would be unsalted peanuts and egg whites, try to stay away from the yolk. also i believe whey is very condensed protien so you could try that

Just have plenty of grains, beans, and milk products and you don't have to worry about having anything else that has protien in it, no matter what it is. Many vegetables have protien too, like broccoli. It's very difficult to not get the needed protien. Since you can't have plain milk use cheeses and butter and yogurt and every other milk product, especially aged cheese. Cheese aged for a month or more has no lactose. These are the most healthy and beneficial sources of protien, and are not as dangerous as some others. Try not to get too much protien, too. That can cause problems like weak bones and overwork your liver.

Soy Protein :)
Yeah soy protein is the best alternative to whey protein if you have intolerance issues. Soy comes from the soy bean, of course, so you won't have any lactose problems. Soy protein is just as available as whey, just ask for it wherever you get your whey. For some people it is metabolized easier than whey, but you'll figure that out for yourself.

Yip thats right , a lot of people actually sit on the Soy side of protein instead of whey ive also read a study compaing the 2 and there both outstanding products , persoanl i like whey better but in your case you have only limited options :)

yeah i got some soy protein and iam fine using it thats the way i have to go the only thing i hate is it doesn't have all the amino acids in it whey does. Eating meats and fish i know but the amouts of fat along with cholesterol that is obtained from eating 165 gram of protein is alout. I try to eat a can of tuna before i workout but that shit gets old and boaring. If i want to acheive the gains i want i need a protein shake iam gonna look on the net for complete soy protein thats the way i think iam gonna go thanks for the advice
