I have never taking anything and wanted to stay all natural.
I'm a hypocrit though because i consider taking protein shakes unatural and for some reason i think taking multi-vitamins is okay, which i do. LMAO

I have got some Mega Whey, because when my pulled lat and upper back muscles finally heal i want to gain to 17 lbs i'v lost back.

Anyway sorry for the bull shiz, my question is:

When is the best time to take a protein shake?

I've heard mourning, night, after workout, 45 min window, watever that is

Thx.

Well whey is great after a workout, or in the morning. This is because your muscles need fast abosorbing proteins during those times. It's not really the shakes that are important, but the protein. Just make sure your protein and calorie intake is high enough to support the given muscle mass you wish to attain.

I agree with Philadelph. Protein after a workout is ESSENTIAL. I also like taking a shake an hour or 2 before a workout. I also agree with protein in the morning, but I usually dont do a shake with it. Just get it from eggs or milk or meat.

Philly and manofprinciples both had good advice. A pre-workout protein shake (it only needs to be about half the size of the shake you consume post workout) will give you a better anabolic response from the actual lifting.

A shake usually isn't a good idea at night, since whey is so quickly absorbed. Of course, if you mix the whey powder into milk and have some good fats to go along with it, it's just fine, but not by itself. I would agree that the only time of the day when you absolutely need a protein shake is after and before a workout. It can be useful in the morning, too, but other than that, it's a better idea to get your proteins from whole foods.

I usually have a shake with 2 scoops in a glass of milk after my workout. Thats about 50 grams. I can get another 100 grams from regular foods, so thats all the whey for me, most of the time. Minimum, I think, should be 1 gram per pound of lean body mass.

If you want to build muscle, protein will help you greatly!

I take mine 1 hr before and right after a session (with creatine), and maybe one before I goto bed.

Whey is rapidly digested.
I use alittle in the morning with Casein . Pre workout, and post workout.
That's it...
