Maybe overall "more difficult" but bull riding takes much more strength and power + nerves of steel so it depends on what you define as tough. I bet if these experts had each done every single sport listed the order would be much different.

nobody threw in baseball. when u play every single day 1 or 2 days off a month. 162+ 250 depending on winter ball. u have to preform everyday. you r job depends on each game. and believe it or nmot its very physical. plus u practice everyday
 
Why does swimming sprints require more analytical ability than e.g. weightlifting?

And what about rock climbing? You need a lot of everything to do that, especially if you go free solo in a long difficult route.

if they incuded boxing and other "contact" sports into the listing then they should have included mma and such

im not sure what criteria they used to define sports as auto racing and shooting make the list while other sports do not
 
atlyroc is right about baseball. Baseball athletes do very well against other pro athletes in TV contests. It's not the game of baseball, it's the !!!TRAINING!!! for baseball. Throw a lot, weightlifting, medicine ball, sprints. That's why baseball players are such great athletes and it shows in comparison with other pro sports in TV contests. Also it's certain positions like catcher, short stop, pitcher who train the most widely.
 
Yeah, boxing was just the only fight sport except wrestling and I don't even believe them about much. Agreed:

1) MMA/NHB/Vale Tudo

Think this was more for the states in mind and I agree with it in part but Rugby should be in the top 5 for sure and archery should not be way down the list, it uses allot of arm strength to get that bow back. Soccer shouldn't be as high like it is.
 
I think fucking should be a pro sport. Think about it, it takes [words=http://fleshlight.sjv.io/c/348327/302851/4702]stamina[/words], endurance (to be any good anyway), balance and coordination (think Kama Sutra positions) and points could be awarded for aggression and cage control... Shit. I may have said too much about my own personal preferences. JK.. but not really.
 
What about cycling? They train for 5 hours every single day (not pussytraining like soccer where you stand in line to perform a certain exercise 50% of the time). Thats 35 hours (or more) of CONSTANT EFFORT every single week. Also: MMA, Car racing, marathon running (pretty hard to beat those kenyans)
 
Powerlifting is hell on the body over the long haul. Believe it or not, pro wrestling is also very hard on the body and mind. I know, most people see it as a "gimmick" because it is in FACT mostly scripted out and rehearsed before it is recorded, ...and all the flash and glam, BUT the action in the ring is still 100%. Sure, the slaps and "punches" are usually more of a glancing blow rather than direct hits, but still. The rate of concussions and head&neck related injuries is right up there with other contact sports like rugby, or football.
 
These stats are complete bs.

A lot of these sports really aren't comparable.
Each sport requires expertise and perfection at different areas that cannot just be counted up to a total.
The simple fact that tennis rates higher than gymnastics on this scale shows what idiocy it is.
 
hands down MMA!!!! no sport can compare 2 the physical training that is demanded for endurance and pound for pound muscle like it... Look at George (RUSH) St. Pierre for instance, 170 lbs. and looks about 200 in person. Or even a better example Randy Coulture... End of discussion Penis EnlargementRIOD

BULL RIDING???????????????????????? im gonna laugh about that comment for the next 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Zero daily weight lifting/physical training, no daily competition against another physically fit human or anything at that, and there competition last what 30 seconds if their lucky!!!! Sure being trampled by a pissed of bull sounds scary ,but doesnt last but a fraction of a second and very rarely causes any serious injury!!!! Beyond that, way off the scale for most demanding sports especially in comparison to a hand to hand combat sport involving 2 physical specimins training every day for atleast 6-7 hours to kick the living shit out of one another in a grudge match!!! No bull rider could put up with any type of training remotely like that ,unless Donald Cerrone is a bull rider?
 
I was thinking boxing when I read the title. But ice hockey 2nd? Ice hockey players compared to other team sports are the most unathletic.
 
As a semi pro boxer and pro MMA fighter I can tell you that wrestling is twice as 'tough' as boxing.

This article is a great example of why; wrestling is fucking thankless. If you are seriously good you may get to coach a high school, if you are elite you may get to coach at a university and if you're super elite you may win an Olympic or world medal. And what does that get you?

In terms of physical ability wrestlers outshine every other athlete I've competed with. They are almost as explosive as weightlifters, almost as good at middle distance running as runners, almost as fast off the blocks as sprinters, almost as agile and flexible as gymnasts. While none of those are even close to each other.

For example, I coach a soccer team. It's low level but I have been lucky enough to coach a couple of guys onto professional teams (in Europe). These dudes, physically aren't even close to lads who get smashed in wrestling. They are inflexible, they can't squat, they're not particularly explosive and the sport doesn't test their strength, etc.

The only thing that boxing has over wrestling in the toughness department is getting straight fucking punched. Getting beat around and keeping your head together to defend, keeping your heart together to keep going, etc. That's all tough. And I suppose, for the vast majority of athletes totally thankless. They won't even get to coach high school or college (I mean there is no 'career' beyond how far you can take it, which for most, is not very far).

So it's about sacrifice and reward versus competition. For example, Rugby is a fucking tough ass sport. You need a huge range of attributes to excel, but if you play in Ireland or Wales you are probably going to be rewarded all the time. You'll have plenty of matches, you'll get time off school, you'll get amazing facilities and huge support. On the flip side, if you are a wrestler in Ireland you get no rewards, no funding, no support from school, or friends, or employment but you will be expected to train harder, for longer, than the majority of rugby players.

What I'm getting at is simply this ... all sports are easy. Because all sports are enjoyable for the most part. What fucking sucks is walking into dingy little underground gyms, at 6 a.m. in the freezing cold just to get your ass kicked, and every day you do no one is noticing, no one cares and no one supports you. Case in point, the Irish boxer Katie Taylor. She is the most decorated boxer in history (regardless of gender) and is only now getting decent support from her government because she is going to the olympics (the first time women are boxing in the olympics). That's tough.
 
You try fighting for a puck vs. a 6'2 220 pro hockey player.

Now try taking a hit from one whose skating at 35 mph.

They are playing on ice wearing razorblades shooting a frozen piece of rubber 100 mph.

The game is extraordinarily fast and there is no room on the ice.

Every inch is fought for and the checking wears a player down.

200 ft of ice back and forth for 60 minutes. 2 minutes shifts and your legs are jello at the end.

That is why hockey is the most demanding sport. Its speed, skill and brutality all mixed into one.

I'd say Ice Hockey if it's played in say, Spain, is demanding. You'll have to travel to one of the countries few ice rinks and everyone thinks you're a fucking idiot for playing some stupid sport that leads to nothing for no reason.

Playing Ice Hockey in Canada or Scandinavia is a piece of piss in comparison because your school probably has a rink, you've got tonnes of support, your family all support it and you have to make little sacrifice outside of out working your team mates and competitors (and if this doesn't come naturally to you you'll never be a great athlete anyway).

There is, however, incontrovertible proof that ice hockey isn't that tough. They fucking fight all the time. Any sport where 'it' is not left 'on the ice' or the 'pitch' or whatever, where the athletes can't focus (or don't need to focus) all of their energy and determination into the competition at hand shows that they lack discipline, aren't working as hard as they could, aren't focused on the game at hand and don't have the psychological make up to win. For example, Soccer players often end up having lover's tiffs, while Rugby players show far greater discipline.

I'd be surprised if the average cross section of rugby players wouldn't smoke the average cross section of ice hockey players in most physical tests and / or other sports.
 
i think its triathlons. you have to practice three sports for god's sake! swimming, running, and biking. not only do you have to practice your form with these three sports but you also have to keep doing it for prolonged periods.

Basketball players tend to be the most well-rounded athletes but I wouldn't put basketball quite that high. Even streetball is crazy tough and demanding but it's not like football where you have to use every single aspect of yourself on every single play.
