Panic Attacks

Anyone here ever suffered from them. I started having them about 18months ago after the death of my dad. I was getting chest pains, numbness in arm/leg/fingers, lightheadedness, nausea. Thought I was having a heart attack a few times and ended up at hospital for check ups but all clear. They seem to have settled down now but I get the odd symptom every now and again.

It seems that mainly women get them so maybe Im asking the wrong crowd.

Never had one, and I'm eternally thankful for that. From what I've heard and read about them, they are worse then death in many ways...Hell, you feel like you're dying, but you're not and it carries on for lord knows how long. That's not even mentioning the fact that some people suffer from frequent panic attacks... I am sorry that such an ailment exists, as no one should have to go through something that dramatic.

I have had them a few times in the past.
You need to get to a queit place and gather your thoughts, take DEEP SLOW breaths and get your mind focused, you dont need any drugs unless your severe.
Seroxat is VERY good for Panic Attacks.

The best natural medicines I found were chamomile tea (lots of it) and St Johns Wort. Both allow you to relax deeply, including the heart muscle which can cramp and causes many of the unpleasant symptoms apparently. Also accepting that the symptoms I was having werent life threatening was a big hurdle. Once you have done that you can just ride the symptoms and almost laugh them off. Once its beaten in your mind thats the worst over with.

Ive read so much on the internet that Im a bit of an expert now lol.

Oh, pulling on your dick to make it longer can also take your mind off the symptoms.

I agree with you Guitarist on how it's in your mind. I have anxiety attacks sometimes which one time led to a panic attack one time during school, and when that happpened I felt like going home but I stayed through the attack and breathed in deeply for like a minute and drank a cups full of tea which wasn't a good thing. Since having anxiety a few months back I would have to pee often hence my name. :s Well, I'm glad to tell you there is a really good cure for anxiety and panic attacks, it's this program called 'Attacking Anxiety and Depression' and you can get it from www.stresscenter.com. I'm still pretty bad about using it even though I have it, it's a procrastination thing on my part. I'm sure if you went to the site and bought the program you could get over the anxiety attacks, I know I'm nearly cured. I also wanted to point out to DLD that he can get rid of his agoraphobia for good by using that program. I know because I had agoraphobia and still do at certain places I go to but I'm conquering it. Thank god because my bladder was about to implode. :bomb:

Once you start to get them, i know your prone for the rest of your lifes days, from the exp of my grandad, i used to watch him suffer from them, gave us a few scares.

I used to get them horribly when I would go out in public. Now I am medicated and still get them but they are much more mild now. They used to be so bad I couldn't go anywhere. I think it is very hard to get rid of them without medication. That is just my opinion. However I am ordering this mental program from this semi-famous psychiatrist. I don't know if it will work but I will keep you guys updated.

Executioner, Once you go through the program I listed above and have those skills to prevent panic attack you won't get them anymore because the fear of having panic attacks diminishes and thus, you never have one again. People with panic attacks may be prone only for short time if they use the program. Trust me it works and I know because it's worked for me and I don't have them anymore where ever I go.

I followed quite a few courses out of books and finished up with the Linden Method off the web. This method gets you in the frame of mind of trying to never think about your panic attack problems. It teaches you to do distraction exercises whenever you feel the beginnings of an attack. It seems to have worked for me and I have been clear of any serious attacks for months now.

The internet has been a great help for me with this problem. There are a lot of great resourses out there. Its also very comforting to know that you are not alone with these symptoms.
