Medics warn against a new and dangerous way of cocaine-abuse: Injection of the drug into the urethra.
"They fill a pipette or injection with a cocaine-solution and inject this in their penis", said Dr. Samuel Perry, Professor of Clinical Psychiatry.
To boost his sexual performance a man had injected cocaine into his penis.
He was taken for admission, as his penis was still erect after three days, what led to a painful inability to urinate.
At the third day of the man's hozpitalisation his erection wore off.
During the next twelve hours blood trickled into the tissue of his hands, feet, genitals, back and chest.
The blood clotting leaded to a dieing off of tissue in wide parts of his body and so he was transferred to the station for burning victims at the N.Y. Hospital Cornell Medical Center.
The medics had to amputate his legs above the knees and nine fingers to avoid the broadening of the gangrenes. The man's penis fell off by itself. The man is in a rehab now.
