This is something I've been tinkering with lately with more and more success. You can do it offline and online these days. There are "thrift shops" for example where you can go and find big name brands: Levis, Reebok, Nike, Wolverine, to name a few and buy goods for lower than retail. Usually, the items are quite a bit lower than their retail "value". The deal with the store fronts though is actually finding goods that are worth a damn. A lot of times, you will not find much that has not already been picked over. The ideal situation, being to find items you can flip for a profit. Hopefully for 2-3X the $$ you paid. Here's where the online part comes in. Nowadays there are Chinese manufacturers making VERY GOOD and convincing replicas of top brand name items. I'm not going to do ALL of the work for you, but if you are resourceful enough, you can find what I'm talking about with a little digging around online. The trick with this approach is to be competitive. You have to do a little of your own research. I will use one real life example of my own. A certain item (nope, won't name what or the brand...you gotta do SOME work) at retail and by the American made brand sells typically for between $550-$585 at most retailers. There's a Chinese company selling a VERY good reproduction of the same item for $150. I sell this item for $450. Over $100 less than anyone else. Guess where people are going to get this item from?? That's right That's over $250 profit for me per this item sold after I cover a PayPal fee and shipping.
Just handing out another red pill. Hope this helps someone. It's really not hard to make a lot of damn money if you got half a brain these days.
