Any advice of how I can keep my metabolism up at home?

I'm fat as fuck.

I'm im the process of changing my diet to healthier stuff, but I'm not quite there yet. I'm going to the gym once every second day, once I get my lisence back I can probably go once a day at least. When I do I wanna get into some hardcore training like them UFC dudes.

Anyway, I have my own business from home (a website to be exact) which requires me to be at the computer a lot... of course sitting on my ass at a computer for so long aint good

anyway I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for how I could keep my metabolism up while working from home. any sort of secret high tech device or something simple. anything

I literally don't know anything about healthy stuff aside from vegetables good, doritos smothered in nacho cheese bad. :blush:

wow incredibly vague.....ok im guessing your BathmateI is around 30% ur body fat around 25%....You have to have a set workout schedule. BUT DIET IS IMPORTANT MOST OF ALL. ok here are some good types of food to eat:
tuna
egg whties
Grilled Chicken
Raw almonds
Flex seed oil
Fruits
basically all vegetables
Wheat bread instead of white bread
lean meats
protein whey (buy this for your after workout shake)
Cottage Cheese
skim milk

the Bad:
ice creame
soda
anything that is fast food (yes even the salad at mcdonalds)
chips
cookies
get the idea...i think you know whats bad

You want to keep your meatbolism up?
Lift
Cardio
eat many smalls meals (your body is like a furnance and food keeps the fire going)
drink a lot of cold water
Thermogenics (but these wont work if you get more active)

now lets talk about work out....im guessing your looking to tone and drop some serous poundage....so you might wanna aim at a lifting scheme of high rep low rest monday-friday with one day dedicated to a body part. with cardio on M W F and as you get more healthy do longer/more cardio on the other days....I do not suggest HIIT, just because of the amount of heat your body generates you might not be ready...but if you did amount 20 minutes (2 mins jog/ 1 min running harder, and so on for 20 mins) it might be best also u might want to do it on a eliptical
a 40% protein 40% carb 20% fat might be a good place to start ur diet and then slow eat less carbs more protein.....and dude do ur self a favor and stop beating ur self up, with that mentality of "i am a fat fuck" you are gonna likely give up working out and losing weight...trust me droping some poundage can do alot for ur confidence i know first hand....and when u get a chance can u tell us ur age, height, weight, waist size, and body fat percentage if u know.....if you need anything else lemme know...take care and keep ur head up bro
 
I'll tack a few things on that I'm slowley realizing:

Once you get up, off your ass, you'll never want to sit back down. Working out will do more than just boost your metabolism, it'll help your energy levels, your outlook on life, your selfesteem; so even if you don't lose a lot of weight you won't be thinking of yourself as a 'Fat fuck'.

Second, there aren't really any devices out there that'll make you skinny. I know, I have half of them sitting in my closet, the other half have glasses sitting on top of them to prevent staining my tables. The only way to change *anything* is to change your lifestyle. There's a reason people gain weight, and it's because they do things that make them gain weight. Setting aside injuries or medications, your metabolism won't just 'Switch off' one day. So you've gotta' take a look at your life and at what you're doing, or in this case, not doing, that is keeping you where you are.

Third: Just like with quiting anything, it's not something that is easy to do. Odds are you'll stumble a few times along the way, but if you kick your ass you can get to where you're going. We're all here to help keep you on your path.

As for the magic bullets you're looking for, there are two:
-Healthy Eating
-Smart Exercising

It's as simple as that. :)

By the way, I'm in kinda' the same boat as you are, so if it sounds like I'm being mean it's because I am: I know I'm capable of getting where I want to, so you are as well.

I'm 18 yrs old, 6'1 and my waist size is 44. I have no idea what my weight is and I wouldn't even know what to guess, I haven't weighed myself in ages.

I was never made fun of, embarassed about, etc. my weight which kinda made it harder to actually realise how unhealthy i am. I have really broad shoulders which gives the illusion I'm not as fat as I really am, which i used as a way to tell myself "oh im not THAT unhealthy" for soooo long. but that's all it is, an illusion that I've finally seen past. i really want to get healthy and FEEL good for once.

As far as my diet goes...
- I got the whole water thing down. I've always got an army of bottled water in the fridge.

- I enjoy salads. I've finally replaced my snacks with raw carrots and celery.

- I'm eliminating Pizza and other high-carb Italian food

- Also mac & cheese, french fries, burgers, those damn chunky soups, shrimp, grilled cheese sandwiches, bacon, sausage, chocolate chip waffles, etc. All my old "favorites"

- I don't have much of a thing for chocolate/candy, so i probably don't have to worry about that. it's the deep fried stuff and pasta that used to get me.


I'm still a young dude so I wanna take advantage of all the time I have to get healthy before it's too late.

When I made this thread I was just expecting some recommendations for good exercise bikes or other crap like that lol. But your guys responses were much more helpful than that, i appreciate it :)
