We have a lot of members here. I think we should get a post going of all the people who have served in the military. It doesn't have to be in the American military. Any country, branch, MOS, rank. I am thinking that since we have so many members that maybe some of them are/were SEALs, Rangers, Army SF, Force Recon, PJs, SAS, etc. Maybe even DELTA.

"You know all that money we spend on the military ever year - trillions of dollars? Instead, if we use this money to feed and clothe the poor of this world, which it would do many times over, then we can explore space, inner and outer, together, as one race." -Bill Hicks.

"Everyone got boners off the technology, and it was pretty incredible watching missles fly down air vents... But couldn't we feesibly use the same technology to shoot food at hungry people?" -Bill Hicks.

"Anyone dumb enough to want to be in the military should be allowed in" -Bill Hicks (in responce to gays in the military).

i feel kinda stupid not taking the time to put down my own ideas, but hell, im lazy and Bill usually sums it up for me.

I haven't yet. But if I don't get accepted to a university or when I graduate from university I WILL do military service. Here you go through 3 medical examinations before you reach 18 so that the country would see whether you are physically/mentally "fit" for military service. People with some illnesses and gay people are those that aren't "fit". If you don't go to high-school/university when you become adult (18years of age) you receive a letter that "invites" you to do military service. If you don't go where it shows you to go you have to pay a fine and if you don't go the second time you get an "invitation" you'll go to war court (I'm not sure that's the right word). But there's a chance that by 2006-7 compulsory military service would be removed.

Yea, this Bill Hicks guy sounds like another one of these people that views life through rose colored glasses....or some sort of drug induced haze. If only every human on the planet wanted peace, and serenity and loved his fellow man...then we could all live as one big happy family. It's in human nature to have conflict and want to have our own territories. Some peoples are more bent toward violent natures...often due to how they are raised....the environment they grow up in.

It's like the anti gun extremists...the ones who really do believe all we have to do is outlaw all guns to get rid of gun related crimes. When reality is, that most criminals dont aquire their guns legally in the first place. Laws usually only affect those who normally obey them.

So back to the topic at hand, yes I've served my country in military service. 4 years active duty for the Marines.
