Hi guys I'm 5ft 11 and 260lb.

Extremely overweight. I struggle with a thyroid condition and my appetite control.

Do you have any suggestions or insight on how to control my appetite. I think this is my biggest hurdle In loosing weight

Have you been diagnosed with a thyroid condition?

First thing I would recommend is to cut out all seed oils.
Canola, soy, sunflower, etc.

Are you working out?
I would suggest weightlifting 4-5 times a week.
That will increase your metabolism and burn fat at a much faster pace than diet alone.

Appetite control is self control.
Have some self discipline and understand you're far from starving.

I'm a no bullshit kind of guy.
I'll help you out but I need you to be real with me.

More muscle mass == easier to keep a healthier weight and burn off subcutaneous fat, and visceral body fat (fat inside your body/around your organs).

We will support you in this @andypandy.

The advice to cut out seed oils is an outdated myth @Tommy Gun , there is no concrete evidence that seed oils are a concern for health. Linoleic acid and arachidonic acid which are present in seed oils have been shown to be beneficial towards cardiovascular health, and linoleic acid on it's own has been shown to improve diabetes symptoms. The only reason one should ever wish to reduce seed oil consumption is for calorie reduction. But anything other than that is pure pseudo science.

There was no such thing as a seed oil before 1870.
And it was first used as machine lubricant.

It wasn't popularized until 1910 by Cresco for human consumption

In the 1950s thats when doctors collectively said we shouldnt comsume so much meat.
Despite our ancestors getting their nutrients and primarily fat from that source.

Humans weren't consuming oils for their fat consumption until then.
And we've seen a steady increase in sickness and disease ever since.

All I'm saying is humans were doing pretty damn good as far as health goes before we started changing our diets to the way they are today.
And seed oils are in EVERYTHING.
not just you seasoning your pan before you cook something.

So yes cut out seed oils from your diet.
It's not the way your body was designed to function.

You completely ignored both of my points and offered no concrete evidence in return.

The decline in health over the years is as a result of seed oils? Or perhaps do you think that people are consuming too many calories, not exercising enough, doing drugs, not sleeping, stressing and this is causing the health crisis? Show me one study that is not a methodological wreck that proves the deleterious effect seed oils have on human health. Correlation does not equal causation.

Just because our ancestors or people in the 50s or aliens from another planet did something different than us today, doesn't mean that the thing in question is the cause of it all, or even at the very least a contributing factor. And oils have existed since the Roman empire believe it or not.

I agree it's many factors.
But we're talking about seed oils. Which make up a large portion of the western diet today.

I think our ancestors are a pretty good indicator of how humans are supposed to eat.
Considering that's how you determine how every other living thing eats on this planet is observing what they've eaten for the majority of their existence.

Correlation does not equal causation?
It usually does.

You're right
But those were olive oils. Olives aren't seeds.

I'm only here to help and I don't feel like debating on a pe forum.
So let's agree to disagree

So yea I have hypothyroidism diagnosed. 125mcg levothyroxine a day I take.

I need to focus on diet and calorie counting.

I'm in a high stress environment at the moment so I know I am comfort eating from that. I need to try find motivation and learn some self control again. Finding it really difficult at the moment.

I eat once per day. I don't know if that works for you. I'm an extreme individual so maybe not do this. But I believe restricting highly processed carbohydrates, like pasta and bread can be be a good start. Also increase your meat and protein consumption.

Also only drink water, coffee, tea when you drink something. Don't drink sugary drinks, not even juice in the morning. Your blood sugar level will spike, and also it's to easy to get in to much energy into your body, when you're goal is to reduce your Visceral body fat. I don't believe in counting calories, you need a simple method. Simple food like meat, fish, potatoes, carrots...as little processed food as possible.

It's not easy...you just need to find a diffrent approach to food..DO what I do. Only look as food as energy for your body. Remove the inclination to eat food for pleasure. You get here by eating high nutritious food.

Hope this helps.
