Just thought I'd make some random comment on how frustrating it is when my second spare cable clamp breaks and I have to wait for a new one to be airmailed over here (U.K) from the U.S.

There're clever little devices.

anyone going through them as quickly as I am ?

<:(

I break them quite often. It does piss me off when it happens! I usually buy at least 6 when I go to buy them. Fortunately I am able to get them with an easy drive to wal-mart or home depot.

How much you paying to get them airmailed? I bought some in B&Q before mate. Also, try ebay. You can do it when you B&Q it!

ah, b&q - cheers provider, i didnt think of looking there lol

i dont know about u but i buy my cable clamps from a local hardware store.

Well I've just ordered eight of them from cableclamp.com so that should see me through for a bit.

someone should make a stainless steel version. It popular as a fetish item as well I think.

I'll have a look in B&Q sometime, I didn't think you could get them over here. Not the exact same model at least.

cheers boys

Figey, Can you tell me how much they are to order from that site? And how much is the shipping to the UK?

When I got some from B&Q it came in a pack of five but only one was a medium size which was annoying.

A clever application of glue or epoxy -before- it breaks might do the trick.

The little ribbon of plastic with the gear tooth seems to
break when it rises too high. The design is flimsy.

I've only broken them when they've ridden up the
skin of my thumb while unclamping them. If there were
some expoxy further up the run of that gear ribbon,
it'd be over twice as hard to break.

It'd be more difficult to unclamp too. (!) Experiment when it's not on you
to make sure it will still unclamp. Might start near the connection point
and glue a bit, ... then if that unclamps easily - add some more
glue further up, etc, until unclamping seems to degrade.

If I break another one, I'm going to try this.

Provider, I got the same sized pack mail order from the U.S originaly but used the smaller ones to keep my computer nice and tidy. I can be quite anally retentive when it comes to order and all that feng shui shit :p.

This time I'm ordering just the size I want . I was quoted $23 for airmail delivery in an email from them. I've yet to confirm the order and I realise I've ordered the large and not the medium by mistake. so maybe it will be cheaper.

You will have to pay import duty and V.A.T, so yeah it's probably more expensive than getting them from B&Q.

How much did you pay for them there ?

"The little ribbon of plastic with the gear tooth seems to

Yes Asanon that's the part that breaks easily. It's a good idea to strengthen it before use, I was thinking off trying some tape to do this and even to repair the broken one in the same way.

Forgive my ignorance, but I've been trying to learn more about clamping.

Is this thread discussing what is known as clamping or is this something else?

Does anyone know where I can find some information about clamping?

Thanks in advance,
Gerry
