They've been down for like a week. First for maintenance. Now citing a "major data corruption". Sounds like a hack job to me.

This ain't the matrix. With a DB back up, any system can be brought up within hours.
At min. they should be doing a DB back up 1x a week, therefore any issue should be resolved within hours.

We have never lost more than 4 days and since we have installed 3 dedicated servers we are never down but for maintenance.

I don't think you understand how DB's work.
If hes got backups(which he should,if he doesn't then it's one of the dumbest things ever) then it doesn't matter where the "fault " is. You go restore the backup that was last working properly. End of story. It's not rocket science. With backups I can gut your server to the bone and you would be up in 1 hour max.
Unless he's being DDOS(and PE isn't) then he's got legal issues or other issues not related to technical issues.
Phoenix7672;692402 said:Depends on where the issue exists, and if it is one that manifested immediately (in which case, just restore the last known good backup or the transaction logs until that point. If the error is more systemic that had been around for a while, it might take longer to locate. Also depends on if they are willing to give up all data past a certain point, or they are attempting to locate the individual record that is causing the corruption...latter would take significantly longer.
Granted I agree that it is odd it is taking them this long...just trying to think of a technical reason it might be occurring, but I am starting to wonder myself actually.
