I ordered a book called "freeing the naturol voice" by Kristin Linklater from amazon.com or barnes and noble I forget which. It deals with training the speaking voice for stage and screen, and is a very popular text in acting schools. Some people would consider it the bible of voice traing. It aims to provide a series of excercises to free, develop and strengthen the voice. It also address psychological issues that diminish the efficiency of the natural voice to the point of distorted communication. Do a search on it.
Yes its very good but it takes work and pratice. I would type out the contents section and the introduction but that would be alot of typing and Im not up to it. You can see those things at barnes and noble or amazon. But like I said it takes work. Its really worth it because the mental aspects and breathing work that goes along with the voice training has made me calmer with people when I talk to them.
One thing it talks about is how to have a really good voice 'your real voice' you need to speak reflexively. Often reflex behavior is short-circuited by secondary impulses. Impulses formed unconsciously and by people other than one self, in childhood. You learn to break free of those patterns of articulation and breathing.
