Thread Closing Issue

I was shocked to see the DLD Size Dispute thread in Pic Proof was closed. Now, I would recommend that, and any other threads that are closed be reopened for several reasons.

One is that DLD mentioned that he supports all ideas and an open forum. One circumstance that stems from open forums is debate. You can't just end the ones you don't like or appreciate, or one's you can't defend. Granted, some aren't as skilled in debate as others, and name calling/etc. happens. This is your opportunity to show these people how gentlemanly you can be in the face of emotion, and maybe it will rub off. Learning theory would state that others would notice the respect you get for staying cool, and maybe attempt it themselves.

Another reason is quite obvious, really. By consolidating into one thread the debate/discussion we supercede the need to recreate thread after thread of the same topic. You never know, today might be the day someone jumps up and posts another "DLD the Liar" thread.

Because a thread makes you angry and seems to be going nowhere is no excuse to close it. In that case, there would have been dozens of threads here that would have been and should be closed. Don't use double standards because you have the power to. The people will revolt.

Now, I could really give a fuck if anyone mentions DLD's size again, or posts in that specific thread again. But it is an insult to me as a member of [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/join-now.html]MoS[/words] to see that a thread is closed. I would hope that the mods, preferably the ones who closed them, would reopen all threads. I would also hope that no threads in the future are closed.

That wouldn't be human nature we all get upset over what seams to be silly reasons to others, but they don't seem silly to us.
However having said that you are right unless the thread is spam it should be open, if it is in the right fourm, if not just move it.

I am compassionate about freedom of speech and I never edit, censor or close a thread based on constructive, inquisitive, intelligent questions and or inquiries. For the record I did not close any thread based on me, I find the threads amusing and comical. It was a moderator decision based on how the thread was a troll haven. The thread was filled with multiple users, aka's, banned returnees and other riffraff. If anyone is interested in intelligent debate on my 10 inch penis there is plenty of other threads available which answer the same, tired questions, accusations and bullshit.

I closed the thread and have LOTS of backing from my fellow mods.
It was a haven for trolls., filled with multiple users, banned users under other names and alsorts of crap. It was going okay in the early stages, but got out of hand and I said this in the thread at many points, that it needed dropping.....it didnt and started again so I nipped it in the bud as its not healthy for the forum to be so engrosed in such matters like that, it'll only cause unrest.

Its in the best interest of the forums that it stays closed, whats been said in their has been said and its a good size in pages, so its had its time. No need to keep such a bitter thread going, it was getting sour and I dont want trouble in here. The matter has been discussed, you have had your shout in their many times and I have even said very nicely for everyone to leave it be and move on. They didnt and it continued, so I closed it....simple as, I wont re-open it. Give me GOOD reasons why it should be opened? and PLEASE do say it in a mature sensible manner, I dont want slander and insults being flew around again.

The reasons the thread got closed are entirely valid and it does cause problems for this stupid conversation to continue on. If the thread were to continue on in the fashion it was nothing good was going to come of it, and the server would have that much more stupid and useless information to handle. I'm really getting irritated with these threads where people start bickering back and forth.....why??? what's the point??? Can we just get this forum back to being about helping each other and stop all this criticism of how this place is run. Let the mods, be mods.....and BACK OFF....

I hope you can see the obvious flaw in your argument here. I won't bother to point it out to you however, because this issue is not up for debate. If you ever become a MOD (which will happen as soon as hell freezes over), you can have a say in which threads get closed or not. Otherwise you do not. Those are the rules of the board, and if you don't like them, nobody's making you post. But continue to post, and you must follow the rules DLD and the MODS have set forth. Very simple, isn't it?

It is not a matter of opinion, it is the rules here. Amongst the MODS and ADMIN we have come to the decision that there will be NO personal attacks made towards anyone else. A good debate is always good however.

Too many personal attacks towards DLD have been made in the pic proof section. These personal attacks violate the rules. Especially when the person taking the flak is the owner of this forum.

Anyone posting a pic is doing so to show their progress. Anyone doubting that progress will now keep it to themselves. There has been too many threads where people put their personal feelings forward and exposed themselves to the more mature crowd here.

I have no problem with you at all and I enjoy reading most of your threads. When things get personal however, someone has to step in before things get out of hand.

The decision to close the thread was a good one. I am glad it was done. No one likes all decisons everyone makes, so live with it. I have not always liked the decision that were made, this one I agree with, but I lived with them and [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/join-now.html]MOS[/words] continues. Those of you who don't like it, you probably have other things you don't like either, as do most of us. But that is the way life is. Let's move on to better things and that is the reason for the closing of the post. GS

and on what kausion said, its practically imposible to have a proper debate here without people hurling insults, it happens all the time, in religious topics, in political topics, and in DLD size claim topics, but the only ones that get closed are the DLD size claim ones... why is that?

It's no grudge that I hold, it's just that you wear my patience very thin, and you do this on a regular basis. If it were a grudge, it would be over an issue that is long past. But I haven't seen one post from you that made me say "hey, that was a good post" or "he just seems like a really likeable guy" or even "hey, he's not so bad after all." It isn't impossible to have a debate without insulting each other. It just takes a certain amount of maturity. But as I said, this issue is not debateable. Post by the forum rules, or do not post. Any post that is against the forum rules will be dealt with accordingly. And that goes for any member here, I'm not calling out anyone in particular.

Don't worry I do not take offense to what you have stated.

Yes I know many debates turn to insult wars because people tend to get carried away and let their true feelings suBathmateerge.

The difference between a debate about religion, politics and another person is that a debate about another person will get too personal. When people state their facts towards someone to which that person replies I do not have a problem with. Once the topic carries on people will get carried away like in other debates only this debate will be about someone else. So you see it ends up being a very personal attack against someone.

If someone started a thread for the sole purpose of calling you out, you can believe I would close that thread as well. Nothing good can come from these personal attacks which is why they are not tolerated.

You and countless others have had there say on the subject, and its not going anywhere. I aint going to keep repeating myself to you over and over as to why the thread was closed, you know exactly why it was closed. All this Freedom of speech is all very well if used in a mature fashion, and I'm afraid in that thread it ventured into childishness, and hence I HAD to close the thread. If you dont like it, PM admin ASAP because we cant do anymore....the thread stays closed unless Admin say otherwise. Stop keep going on and on about it in here, everything has been explained and I havent left anyone in the dark about the subject.
