Hello Everyone,
A while back we placed an order for a new batch of Power Assists with our original manufacturer. After waiting 2 weeks the manufacturer informed us that they were having a hard time getting the Ash/Wood for the Power Assists. The manufacturer tried another Supplier that we waited to hear back from as well with no results.
So once I saw this was taking a long time I went online and searched for another manufacturer to make these Power Assists with no luck. It takes a special CNC laser machine to make these in large quantities.
After further searching, we found a guy who said he could make these by hand in 3 days. I questioned the quality of his work so he made me a sample and sent it to me to inspect. When I got the Sample, the quality looked real good, so I gave him the go ahead to make them. He asked to be paid up front for materials and I wired him the money. Well 5 days went by and I didn't hear anything back from him. So then I called him and his wife picks up and says he left to New Orleans to help work for the Disaster Relief and he shipped the Power Assists out to me before he left. So I asked for a tracking # and she said she doesn't have it and can't get in contact with her husband. So I gave it the benefit of the doubt and figured I would give it a few more days to get to us. Well after a few more days I call her back and the number is disconnected![Frown :( :(](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f641.png)
Now we are out money and still no Power Assists. So I went back to the original manufacturer to see if any luck has changed on getting lumber. So he put a call in and said that they could probably use another material that is just as strong. In the process of him checking this out he gets a huge job in that has to get done and tells me he has to put me on the back burner until he finishes it. I asked how long it is going to take to finish that job and he says about 6 weeks. So I ask him if he can recommend another company to do some Power Assists to get by for now and he refers me to a woodwork forum that I checked out.
So I PMed a guy on there out in Oregon who has a CNC machine to do these and asked him if he can make us some. So he asked for the plans and digital template and I get him everything and he agree's to do it. I informed him on the material and Color to make these and he said no problem. So being pressed for time, I just told him to go ahead and get started and he invoiced me and asked for a 50% deposit. So I got him his deposit and he started the job. So 9 days later he has them ready to ship to us and I pay him the balance and he ships the order to us.
So he is out in Oregon and ships us UPS ground and it takes another week to arrive to us. So I get them, open the box and first thing I noticed is the staining looks like crap and a couple of them had a broken chunk off the handles. So I checked them out further and notice the wood looks different. So I tested one to see how strong it was and I was able to snap it in half by hand. I grab another and snap that one too. So Now I am really Pissed the fuck off and call this guy and he agree's to run them again but I asked for my money back.
So now I went back to the original manufacturer and I am waiting for him to get the lumber in we need. He was able to locate the same Ash from another supplier at a higher cost and I told him to go with it. So I am now waiting on them.
So as you can see, this run of Power Assists was something else.
We deeply apologize to the people that are still patiently waiting on them.
If you are on the waiting list and do not wish to wait any longer, please send me a PM and I will promptly refund your payment.
Thank You
