Motivation

I was wondering what you guys do for motivation?

Im about 10-15lbs of fat loss away from a 6pack I reckon - but Im finding it really hard to eat clean all the time..

As soon as I start getting a social life outside the gym I gain weight in a matter of days - Had 3 days off of a strict regime and Ive lost most of the definition I gained in 17 days of working out.. which has totally pissed me off...

So what do you guys do when you are going out for an Indian meal for a family members birthday? And how do you get back on the wagon before you end up having a whole week off?

Do you know your bf%? This will be the best indicator as to how close you are to abs.

Everytime I feel I am losing motivation I visit here > http://forum.bodybuilding.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29 or I look through the galleries.

If you go out to eat, that's easy.
Either go all out and add an extra cardio day or tack on 30-45 minutes to a session (according to how much you went over your macros).

You can also cut whatever you get from a resturant in half. Take the other half home and consume it for your next meal. This should fit decently into your macros. If it doesn't, add a little cardio in.

If you don't want to do either. Order some type of garden/chef salad, grilled chicken with veggies. You should be good to go without cuting your dinner in half or adding in the extra cardio.

Honestly, if you're not bulking or cutting not eating clean foods can be rather leniente. If you're having a bad day, week, month don't worry about how 'bad' you ate during the day/week/month prior, focus on the day/week/month ahead.

Discipline. Discipline. Discipline. =]

No clue to my bf% - I dont really know where I can get that checked in the Uk..?

If I am in the right light you can see an outline of my abs - otherwise I look a bit flabby due to excess subcutaneous fat under the skin.

(Parents over-fed me as a child until I was about 15-16 and old enough to actually notice how bad it was)

Trying to tone up more than anything, and improve my anaerobic tollerence for sprints and things..

I seem to be exhausted most of the time and if I eat badly I get really agitated instead of just letting it go and moving on..

Top notch advise though..

Ill just take half home with me, and If not enough protein ill just have a shake.. (126kcal 25g protein) and do a bit more cardio.

Thanks :)

Find a local gym. Some might even give you the test for free. =]
There are two types of tests. Calipers and Scales. The calipers will give you an almost dead on number. The scale, well. Take the number with a grain of salt.

I'd try some variations of HIIT as well. This should help you vasty, tolerance and fat burning wise.

If it's in your macros to squeeze in a shake, by all means.

I hear you on the eating badly. If I eat really unclean I have an overall bad 'funk' about myself.

All you need is some cheap fat calipers to help estimate your body fat and no test will be 100% accurate, with the most accurate being in one of those tanks.

My motivation is just that it feels good and makes me more healthier, thinking about the future aswell when I'm older as guys that are more lean and fitter have much more health benefits later in life.

I'm not doing this to impress the ladies but its nice when they notice. I have good shape, symmetry and size I think at 187lbs and a respectable b/f at 10/11%.

Want to work more on cardio and lose abit more fat, its mainly the abs as they arent as sharp like they were.

Im trying to get my bf% down as quick as I can - but bulk up as fast as I can too for when I get back to uni.

I have 8 weeks left so intend to row for 20mins a day
And get my bicep curls back up to 20+kgs
And I use press up stands for my chest and triceps.

Thankfully rowing tones up my back, legs and core really well so I can just use bodylastics for anything I cant hit.

Just sometimes Id rather eat crappy food and watch TV.. I need to really sort it out! haha

yah - I jog or low strokes per minute row..
Given me good results so far - with a stricter diet I could do what I want by the time im at uni again..

Im a iron addict, been treating like shit all my life so I fell in love with the weights. The pain of lifting and testing my determination to get stronger. Eating will determine ALL your results in the future so make shore thats in check before anything.

Having a cheat meal is OK. dont become a prisoner to your routine. Your not competing in a competition any time soon so it want kill you but limit it as much as possible. Im a health nut but I had Mcdonalds after lifting toady because I had no taste for a shake today but this is not something I do all the time.

I will tell you if you want it you will do it no matter what. Ask yourself if you really want to look better and your hunger to achieve that goal should make the food become easy.

whenever i go on a cut my motivation is visualizing what i will look like when the 12 weeks are over, and just telling myself how eating clean and working my ass off is going to get me there.

but rite now im 3 months in on a bulk till march so i dont have to be too clean heh heh :)
