To be evil...what does it really mean, and is it subjective?
If someone does something evil, does it make them evil? How can someone just be evil, without being anything else (a little good, or holy)?
If doing bad things are evil (whatever "bad" might be), then everyone is evil, or has done something evil. And that depends on who is saying it and the authority they have I guess.
If society tells me that I need to get a job, help someone else get rich while I make a small percentage of the money (or try to become wealthy by whatever means) and I don't, then that's bad. Does it make me evil? Or, if the creator, the Almighty God (if you believe in him) declares what is evil and good, such as the creation of light, and the earth, wouldn't your morals and ethics be developed out of his word? An everlasting word that is final (in most cases black and white, but when things are gray, the Holy Spirit is sent to help).
I think the bible can be a great book on exploring the evil and good of mankind. The book of proverbs explores this in wisdom and is pretty cool when you search it, as does many other books.
You can sit here and ponder, or you can read books like the bible and get ancient wisdom that will no doubt cause you to agree in your own heart. How can something so old be so right? It is most likely is right and has prophesied all of this stuff anyway.
Fascinating!
ps. I'm not trying to rub any religious stuff on anyone, just thought that old ancient wisdom about evil and good could be relevant to the topic at hand, and provide possible answers.
