For the electrolysis experts, what is the cost?

I know there have been a couple threads on here about electrolysis in the past, though I don't think any have addressed the cost. All I know is electrolysis is supposed to be expensive, but how expensive?

I want to get rid of my unibrow. I never really bothered me that bad, but I have plucked out hairs in recent years and I could swear they're growing in thicker. Because I'm a redhead and my hairs are fairly light, you'd never notice it five feet away, but it gets on my nerves. What am I looking at to get a few hairs whacked around the eyebrow area? $100? $200? $500? Do they charge by the square inch or by the follicle? What is the norm?

Usually around £1.00 a minute depending on the area they work in .
I think redheads and blondes have more, finer hair and are harder to treat than dark-haired men.
Expect it to be slightly painful tho' !
Get the best as it can scar badly ....

Really? Wow, I hadn't read anything about scarring. Little things I've read online say that the procedure is expensive, as it's always been, but that the pain has been reduced with better equipment over the years and that most people can tolerate it without too much complaint.

Depending just how hairy you are a professional pluck or wax will help.
It will only cost £25.00 and you can keep it up at home with tweezers !
Don't overpluck or you will look like Cyndi Lauper ...

Well, a wax would require some period maintenance on an ongoing basis, so I think I would be more inclined to zap the hairs, unless we're talking something ridiculously expensive or highly likely to scar. Guess I'll have to try and find someone in the area that does electrolysis and see if I can get a consultation.

In the UK (at least) there are teaching classes at beauty colleges where they are always looking for guinea pigs.
The tutors are hightly-skilled and charges minimal.
You cold get a free wax or risk (?!!) electrolysis .
Who knows, you might even opt for a back, sack and crack wax !

Today, I was thinking about this thread and actually had the idea of beauty academies cross my mind. The only concern would be if it were more likely to scar, due to inexperience, or considerably more painful.

They DO do patch tests to test for allergy or extreme skin sensitivity and are very strictly chaperoned ...
Home kits are another possibility .
Have you thought of sugaring and threading (Arabic techniques) which are gaining favour ?

Sugaring is basically like that Nad's commercial product if I'm not mistaken. I tried it once and I thought the stuff hurt like a bitch (I bled from several follicles) and it was only moderately effective, leaving a fair amount of hair behind.

I've never heard of threading. What is it?

As for home kits, everything I've read says they're absolutely not permanent and are not the same as professional electrolysis. From what I understand, a legitimate electrolysis machine can only be sold to a licensed professional or a doctor. Guess the home units are probably underpowered.

Sugaring is an Arab technique for hair-removal (and they are very hairy).
Threading is where they use a thread wrapped round their fingers to pluck out excess hair and is meant to be very effective.
I think threading is Indian.
Regular plucking in time weakens the hair follicles and the regrowth is finer ....
