1) I've stuffed a small rolled up towel between my belt, and while that might help, it really is ridiculous to have to do that and it's not exactly comfortable or conducive to being out and about. It can work yes, but it's not a great solution.
2) I of course have done what Randolpho suggests. But that friction against my body, over a short amount of time actually, will give way to the pulling from the other side. The static friction just isn't enough to counteract the difference in elastic forces on either end of the friction region.

4) Sewing would be a good solution, I'd have to take it to a seamstress... Not going to take it to my sister who I think has a sewing machine. I don't need those questions.
Overall though it's just really stupid to have this problem. At it's
longest length, and by the time you stretch it to give it tension, you literally would need to be Jabba the Hut to wear it like that. The damn belt is way too long.
