Beginning size poll: Bone Pressed Erect Length (BPEL)

This pole confirms my suspcisions to an extent . . . at every rounded measurement (i.e. 6 - 6.25, 7 - 7.25, 8+), there seems to be a jump from the overall trend or curve. Though the number of responses to this poll is certainly low enough numerically to field these results without the possibility of dishonesty, we've previously identified the tendency of men to round up to that big 7" or 8" mark. It follows that it should happen with the 6 - 6.25" column as that is probably pretty damn close to the true average, but others are suspect. Especially hilarious though, is the huge leap in the 8+ category. C'mon fellas, does it really make you feel all that much better? About 10 guys are are 7.75", but 40 guys are 8"?! Seriously now . . .

Your points are probably plausible, but every time I see the damn picture proof...I don't know. I've seen about 5 newbies that were at or around 8 inches in length without any Penis Enlargement. But again that is only a few and people could be fibbing a bit. That jump is probably fibbing, but then again like you said it's especially hard to tell with this amount of people having taken part in the poll.
I started out at 5 inches by 4 and considering that I'm hanging right now I'm certain I'll have increased my length by 3 inches by the end of this year. (started Feb. 04)There's no stopping me. 40 guys is a tad worrisome to me though. I wouldn't worry about the picture proof too much. Very rarely do I see a clearly measured pic in there that demonstrates a length of 8" or more. Some that I saw, like Bigedu or Stillwantmore have clear, measured pics, and incidentally look much bigger than a lot of the guys that claim the same things. Plus, keep in mind that better hung guys are a hell of a lot more motivated to post pictures, and a good number of people doing that just want to hear compliments and affirmations (remember Stuart Smalley?) that they're a good size.
The trend I noticed in the poll was that guys probably like to round up to a large number, especially the elusive 7" and 8" marks. The thing about the 8" is worth mentioning because nearly any penis size survey shows that kind of length is probably happening with around 1-2% of all guys. 40 guys claiming that on a poll of about 550 is pretty silly. Also funny was that such a low number thought they were just under 8", which statistically there should have been more of as it's slightly more common.
Don't let the internet warp your mind. The average sizes that have pretty muchg been established are legit. Even a website like this can be misleading because A) so many people are full of shit, and B) it seems that the better endowed guys are more likely to be heavy posters, share pics, ect.

We can all cram a ruler into the our hip on the side of our penis and extract a measurement a way larger than our real erect size, and that's just what many guys end up doing. Don't let their insecurity spread to you.

One thing you need to keep in mind with these polls is that guys measure in different ways... ways that might not be all that >ahem< fair. I am guilty of that myself. When I first joined [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/join-now.html]MOS[/words], I measured BP from the side, and really pushed it in deep. I wasn't being dishonest because I thought that was a fair way to measure. I measure top center and claim a more honest 6.5 nbp / 7.5 bp now. I'm not a newbie anymore, tho.

The whole debate came out of a sort of contension between people who felt that most people here were probably being really honest and those that feel there's just as much fudging going on as anywhere else. It's not about trashing anybody or making them feel bad. Is anybody really being picked on? Are we really that concerned about anonymous guys clicking the 8" button on an intrenet poll for kicks? I'm not. I understand why you might be sensitive about this, but is discussing the issue in a thread or two really going to change things on the forum or seriously mess with anybody? Not bloody likely, so why gripe?

I noticed this trend as well and wondered about its validity. One thing to keep in mind about the poll is that the last category is a catch-all: 8" and everything above. [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/join-now.html]MoS[/words] is home to a number of truly exceptionally sized men, and the distributed measurements are collapsed into one 8" and everything above category. If we took everyone in that 'bin' and distributed them out across additional quarter-inch bins, the effect that you're pointing out would diminish or perhaps even disappear.

Wow! I didn't even think of that, color me embarrassed. However, I'd say it's still inflated. I've seen maybe just a few penises legitimately in the 8+ category in that picture proof section. I can think of a few members, some former, like Kaution420 who fit into that category, but really, I still think it's symptomatic of the overall "supersizing" trend on the site. It's not a big deal, I don't know why it aggitates so many people to call attention to it. As I mentioned before, I think it's really symptomatic of this whole BP deal. People go wild with that.
I also noticed some simlar effects with the girth poll. That one has a more realistic curve, but there is quite a large number of girths on the absolutely huge side - and yet probably the largest measured girth to ever post is that treepapaniner guy, and he readily admits to being around 6.5" at best.
The fact is, out of a few hundred respondents on each of those, there is a disproportianately large number of very large measurements. If these guys really are around, not many of them are posting a clear pic. All the legit surveys we know of identify these types of sizes as extremely rare, but for some reason this website has six, seven times the average? I'm not even sure, but I am sure that on any website that involves penis size and sexuality, no matter how much we may like it, lots of guys are being really dishonest. It's just sort of a natural maxim for an anonymous environment like this. I just noticed that the poll seemed to support the trend that myself and others had already indentified elsewhere.

Most guys are insecure about their size to a degree no matter how well endowed - but I really doubt the site has attracted an enormous number of really really well-hung guys. I guess I'm the party pooper on this one, as nobody seems to like the idea that guys here are as full of shit as anywhere else on the internet. I don't particularly see what the harm is pointing out the trend. There's about five hundred less useful, less interesting threads floating around, but this topic really seems to rub people the wrong way . . . I agree, it probably is. The rounding up effect can be clearly seen at the seven inch bin, so the effect almost certainly contributes to the eight and plus inch bin as well, despite collapsing all the big boys numbers into that one bin.
I did my initial length measurement of 8 inches while I was a teenager and that number has stuck in my head ever since. Your supersize comment made me question that number, so I went back to my measurement picture in Picture Proof and used a straight edge to bridge the distance from the ruler to the tip of my penis. The result is arguable, but probably I should have put myself in the 7.75-7.99 category at that time. It's just that my concept of my penis has been "8 inches" since I was 14, so I really didn't draw a distinction between the 7.98 measured and the 8 inch in my mind. I've since measured at ~8.125 inches, so that point is moot now, but your assessment of rounding up is certainly valid.

Yeah, I measured myself when I was a teenager. I was 7.75" and I've never lost a millimeter. So although this is an estimate, since I started Penis Enlargement to regain my former stiffies, not to get a bigger dick, it's an accurate one.
You would probably get a more accurate poll if you only counted those who actually posted personally since you are probably right about many who hit the 8" button.

Yeah, this poll unfortunately doesn't show much though I'm sure it was created with the best of intentions. It's supposed to chart BEGINNING BPenis EnlargementL, yet almost a third of all respondents supposedly started over 7". No sir, I don't think so . . . According to every poll where guys aren't allowed to measure themselves, 7" and up is less than 10% of men, and that would be a generous estimate. I think it's important to point out that this poll has fone a little sour as any new guys checking out the the forum could become intimidated and discouraged if they really think a third of the guys that took this thing started off with more than 7".

Well I've been doing pe since july 2004. I haven't been consistently doing it though. Also what's interesting is only 30% report a BPenis EnlargementL less than 6". If 6" is truly the average size, then a full 50% 'should' be in that range. I agree with Priapologist in that I'm sure many men have rounded up in this poll. It should be a nice bell curve, unless there's some penis proclivity to integers I don't know about.
