Ok, well in my Business Administration class, we have a project where we are given $10000 fictitious. And we are supposed to choose 3 stock, 1 from the NYSE, 1 from NASDAQ, and 1 from AE. And the deal is, that the person who makes the most at the end of the quarter (10 weeks), gets major extra credit points. And being a Business major, this would greatly benefit me. The only problem is, even though I read a ton about the stock market, I still have no clue on where to start and what to pick. All of my obvious choices I read online said that they weren't expected to gain anything. Anybody have any knowledge about this subject and is willing to lend a "hand"?????;)

10 weeks is a very, very short period of time, so you'll want to choose companies that will have something special happen. Look for companies that will be making consumer reports or earning reports soon, and that you expect to do very well. This is just an idea, and I may be a bit off here, since I mainly know about long term investment strategies.

You're also gonna want to try high risk stocks, where there is a lot of fluctuation. If you want to do better than everyone else, you're gonna have to take big chances.

Apple is about to make release a few products. Whenever they do, their stock goes up.

Yeah but they are also geting slammed with several multi-million dollar lawsuits at once. On top of that I read that they aren't really expected to do much, at least on the short term.

And yeah Spinner thats just about the only lesson I have learned from stocks myself, lol. Don't do it for the short term. LMAO
