Protein Bars

They all suck to me, even the ones that are supposed to be good. So I buy what's
on sell and just suck it up. They are very convenient, that's about all to me.

High protein is basically all I look for in a bar. That's all you should really care about anyways when buying them. Convienient yes, but not as health as you might think. I was reading an article recently that critisized energy bars for having way too much fat and sugar and being marginally better than a chocolate bar.
So I wouldn't consider them a healthy alternative to meal, but maybe a healthy alternative to a slice of double chocolate fudge cake. ;)
That's my take.

I say forget the taste the best ones seem to be the nastiest thats whats more important than taste anyways, just hold your breath or something bcuz i doubt you find any that taste really good and still be best quality.

Make your own... i can post recipe's if you're interested.

Now that's a hell of an idea!! So obvious I would never even think to do that.

Please post recipe Mr sikdogg.

Here's a couple for starters... i'll post more if you want.

Here’s a good the recipe:

16 ounces Natural peanut butter
8 tablespoons honey
six scoops of Optimum Chocolate whey protein powder
1 cup of uncooked oatmeal

Mix the pb and honey in a bowl, microwave on full for 80 secs. Add the rest and mix together. Can add raisins/nuts etc to taste. Smooth into 13x9 tray and leave for 20 mins. Cut into 10 to 12 equal bars and wrap and store in fridge.

This is a great tasting recipe that I modified from one I found on 'bolex

Now here is the breakdown on a batch of the goodies:

Protein: 254 grams
Carbohydrates: 282 grams
Fats: 236 grams

1 Cup Natural Peanut Butter
1 1/2 Cups Protein Powder (I use Customizer's chocolate MPI)
8 Tbsp Honey
1 Cup Oatmeal (not the instant kind)
1 1/2 Cups Skim Milk
1 Tsp Cinnamon

I just mix all these in a large mixing bowl (you might want to throw the peanut butter in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to soften it up), spread it into a pan and bake it for 30 min. @ 325 deg. Using this recipe each bar works out to be:
Cal. - 370
Protein - 24
Carbs - 33
Fat - 17

Try the South Beach Diet bars if you can find them. From Memory 19g protein, 6g fat, and about 6 net carbs. They use soy protein in a crunch type of manner (kind of like a Nestle Crunch bar) and a layer of chocolate on the bottom. The two flavors I like are chocolate and peanut butter crunch. The bars are ment to be meal replacements. Just about 25% or better for all major vitamins.

met-rx big 100....i worked construction over the summer and they fit in your pocket and don't melt (because they dont have a chocolate coating. They taste good too. They have about 3 grams of fat, 50 grams of carbs, and 27 grams of protein. A good energy bar.

I wouldn't touch anything with soy protein, personally.

I like the myoplex lite bars. They have fruit flavors like raspberry and orange if you can find them. Also the myoplex peanutbutter crunch bars are pretty good.

Met-RX one's aren't that bad, but most protein bars are crappy. Stick with the whey.
