I hope oneday we can all have our very own p2p network so we can share stuff on it with eachother.

Checkout the free Gigatribe it's what we're looking for and enables the user to invite people with encryptian aswell.

Its not like a wide open public p2p network such as the likes of Limewire and Kazaa used and its legal.

Let me know your thoughts and we can sort something out.

Also check out Comodo's easy VPN here.

Would be cool if we could host a VPN with that software on a server online or someone's spare computer. Than members here could log into that and start the private p2p going.

I'm testing out 5 p2p applications so that membes here can connect to eachother and share stuff in privacy.

My goal is for a private encrypted network that will work on most OS such as Linux, Windows and Mac.

Here's what I'm testing thus far and your welcome to join me in this and help with it.

Remobo - Private BitTorrent server & client
Waste - Private p2p application for groups
Ants p2p - Similer to Waste
Gigatribe - Very versatile easy to use and manage private p2p. Like browsing your own computer
Comodo Easy VPN - Works via VPN protocol, private and encrypted

Tested Comodo VPN with another member and we were doing alright but encountered some problems on large transfers.

I think this problem can be solved but its new software and has teething troubles so maybe shelve this for now.

Tommorow night around 10pm GMT I'll be in the MOS chatroom and will meet anyone interested in setting one of these up and test it.

I cant do it alone.

If you are keen than download the Waste application and read this to get you in the loop.

Waste is probably the most secure private p2p software around and very fast because of the small nature it has. We would all need to know one anothers IPs and share a generated key to accept eachother into the network, but once done we're great to go.

Used Waste before years ago with good success.

UPDATE

Been having problems with the Comodo Easy VPN as it crashed when sending large files across the network and is in BETA anyways.

It appears that Remobo isnt working for the Mac and doesnt have a Linux version so we will kick it into touch.

Found another app to use but this one works for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Called AllianceP2P and again is private.

Download it, install and setup account than PM me the details so we can meet and start this thing.

Project shelved due to lack of interest, but might be plans for a dedicated server if members are prepared to donate for its monthly up keep. If anyone has interests than PM me. Thread and topic now closed.
