I have made some modifications to my Bathmate HydroXtreme 7 Wide Boy (it's the same girth/diameter as HydroXtreme 9. Wide Boy it's just shorter).

You will see the measurements in this picture.
Remove the comfort insert (this is a super important step), put some Vaseline at the rubber part/rubber creases (the part that are towards your Pubis).
Then put a bigger loose (in circumference) cut sleeve (cut it in half) at your base of your penis. Pump with this loose sleeve on your penis, in order to protect your penis from the gator/rubber creases.
You can pump without this sleeve as well, but it will be more comfortable with this sleeve on your base.
The sleeve needs to be very loose and not give any restrictions of your expanding tissue. If the sleeve are restrictive and tight, you will prevent girth expansion and you are now doing a length exercise. The same concept as when you are using the comfort insert. The comfort insert should be illegal to use. It's like shooting yourself in the foot, if your goal is to maximize your girth routine and gain as fast as possible.
With this method you will get more expansion without to much fluid retention (It is important to stay a maximum of 5 minutes in the pump).
But your penis will also expand more in girth as well (without the comfort insert), so you will not get as much length expansion. This is a good thing. You are working on girth, aren't you? Don't let your ego decide what to do. You are working on girth, and your goal is to maximize girth expansion, and not to get more length in the pump. Don't focus on length, focus on girth expansion. I will always believe that it is most effective to separate girth work from length work. If you are lucky you will get length gains as well with girth work, but that is not your main objective.
If you use a tighter sleeve (or a bandage) you can get more length expansion inside your Bathmate pump. It all connects to the fact that your penis tissue are expanding like a balloon. That is: Your penis expands in all directions.
This analogy is good in order to explain how your tissue are expanding.
Tunica Albuginea are preventing the expansion to a point, that is why this quote below is so important to remember

Important realization: If your penis can expand more in girth you will loose length expansion. If your penis cannot expand in girth (due to the narrow cylinder) you will gain more length expansion inside the cylinder/pump.
The sleeve I'm using at my base inside the pump are:

Down below you will also see a modification that I have made to my Bathmate HydroXtreme 7 Wide Boy.
I have put a silicone tube on the valve, so I can use the VacuVin pump instead (not the included ball pump) to increase the vacuum inside the pump. This method is a much easier way to increase the vacuum. For me the included ball pump is hard to deal with, due to the connection between the ball pump and the valve on the Bathmate pump (in my case: Bathmate HydroXtreme 7 Wide Boy).
My silicone tubing was way to hard, so try instead to get a tubing that are more flexible. You use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm it up in order to get it over the valve. No glue is needed. This modification is not damaging your pump as long as you are careful with the valve.

Remember to get a flexible silicone sleeve (the one I have is to hard, but I got it on there).

⚠ Notes: Be carful --> Some directions to make sure you are SAFE, if you decide to perform this modification on your pump.
It's important that you can rotate the valve to lock and unlock it (The valve is not the same as in Hydromax pumps).
And also make sure the spring action is working before you increase the vacuum to full force.
You need to make sure that this spring action is working so you do not get stuck in the pump at full pressure/vacuum.
Also make the silicone tube short enough, so you can reach in there with one finger and flip the "switch"/pin.
I can make a video with the Bathmate pumps in the future, now when I'm working with them daily.
