So, any fans of nordic metal here? If you like metal you might want to check these out.

Carcass - Heartwork
Children of Bodom - Hatebreeder
Amon Amarth - The Crusher
Candlemass - Ancient Dreams
Iron Maiden - Killers
Mayhem - Deathcrush, Live in Leipzig, De mysteriious Dom Sathanas
Hellhammer - Apocalyptic Raids
Burzum - Det Som Engang Var
Mutiilation - Vampires of black imperial blood(good luck finding this one)
Vlad Tepes - March to the Black Holocaust, War Funeral March(rare stuff)
Torgeist - Time of Sabbath(rare, kvlt stuff)
Bathory - Blood Fire Death
Dissection - Anything by them is gold
Sacramentum - same as above
Necrophobic - The nocturnal silence
Megadeth - Peace Sells....Killing is my business....Megadeth fucking rules.

more soon, share your favorite heavy metal bands here, I need some new ones.

Most of those bands are a bit "thrashy" for my tastes (except for Iron Maiden & Megadeth).

I've always been into more progressive metal, such as:

Dream Theater (my all time favorite...along with Rush)
Queensryche
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Accept
Symphony X
Shadow Gallery
Dali's Dilemma
Angra
Loudness
Racer X
Tool

just to name a few

I play thashy stuff, therefor I enjoy it. Thrash doesnt need to be tight to be heavy. I prefer sloppy single kick blast beats over precise souless metal anyday. Metal has to come from the heart, the angered soul. If it doesnt, then it sounds mechanical, like Opeth.

Sacramentum
Necrophobic
Naglfar
Dissection
Carcass

None of those are thrashy, they are very precise and technical. I suggest any fan of progressive metal check these guys out, because every one of those bands invented a totally new genre, the first 4 created progressive black/death metal. And Carcass was the first to create melodic death metal with the album "heartwork."

What do you think of Morbid Angel. 'Gateways to Annihilation' is my personal favourite of theirs.

Generally though I prefer softer music such as sigur ross or massive attack. I was into metal when I was younger and at that time I also liked Imortal. What do you make of them?

Right now my favourite bands are: Tool, Radiohead, Tears for Fears, Massive Attack, Sigur Ross, Nitin Sawney, Frank Zappa (selected material), The B52's, Spandau Ballet, Chick Corea, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Micheal Jackson, Tortoise, etc.

I'm a drummer at music college in London, just finnished my diploma and am about to start my BathmateUS. I'm also in a band and have been in the same one for about 6 years now. We write prog music. Anyone like any of those bands. Better yet, anyone like all of them?

Edit: Oh yeah, I also like Mayhem, my favourite is 'Grand declaration of war'.

I listen to much more than just metal, but if I have control over the cd player I put in some headbanging groves. I like Immortal, Morbid Angel, and Mayhem. Prog Rock is great, gong is worth checking out, as is porcupine tree.

I think my favorite band right now is Destroyer 666

If you haven't already bought it, get Porcupine Tree's latest disc "Deadwing". It's brilliant, written in the same style as "In Absentia" which is a musical masterpiece.

I have absolutley everything they have ever done, when combined with my freinds collection. I am pretty sure we have every single piece of music, alot of it downloaded from soulseek.

Deadwing is pretty good. I still listen to metal 99.6 percent of the time though, at least. Countess is great.

I also have the new Porcupine tree album and think it's brilliant. Gong are great too. My personal favourite is 'You'.

For the most part, I really hate all the dave mathews band type bands I hear. Pretty much if it isn't dark, or isn't heavy I don't like it.

Power metal all the way!

Iced Earth
Sinergy
Savatage
Jorn Lande
A couple of Edguy songs
Tad Morose
Evergrey

just to name a few.. Bow down! :D

EDIT: When my server comes back up I'll post my winamp playlist at: http://jamie.ee99ee.com/winamp.htm
