Are My Expectations Unrealistic?

So I just ordered a Bathmate HydroMax30 and it came in the mail a few days ago. A brand new unit out of the box.

As awesome as it is I have come across a couple of issues...

1. When I use the Bathmate while flaccid, the maximum I can pump to is 4.75in, with or without the comfort ring.

I'm 6in NBPEL, for what it's worth. Is this normal, or should I be able to pump to my full normal size whether flaccid or erect?

2. For the life of me I cannot get the hands-free air-tight seal everyone else gets.

I used the Bathmate with and without the comfort ring, varied my pumping speed (rapid short pumps vs long slow pumps spaced out over 30-60 seconds), shaved my pubes to the point where there's no more hair, closing the valve immediately after water gets pumped out for a tighter seal.

Unless I'm holding the Bathmate with one hand for an entire session, it will just fall off from the base within 10 seconds. I know for a fact it's the suction because it's where the extra air bubbles are coming from.

Here are the only things I haven't tried:
  • Using Vaseline. Is it safe for me to put this on either the comfort pad or the rubber gaiters themselves without damaging the Bathmate?
  • Applying the Bathmate in the bathtub instead of the shower
  • Applying the Bathmate in different positions, such as sideways and inverted
3. If I use the Bathmate fully erect, I tend to lose 0.5-1.0 inches of my length after 1-2 minutes and I cannot get back to a 100% erection while inside*

*this loss in length is with respect to the measurement on the top of the Bathmate unit.

This has been true whether I watch "movies" before using the Bathmate or not. And once I'm done, I don't get the temporary gains in length and girth reported by other people.

Weirdly enough, I can do the Bathmate stretch where you extend it out to the center and immediately feel my internal penis stretched. So it's working, just not normally as you would expect.

Has anybody encountered these same issues when using the Bathmate and if you did how do you fix them?

Once you've become accustom to the pressure, a simple mod w/The VacuVin will super-charge your BM and allow hands-free

I'm down for using a mod later in my journey to increase the pressure in the BM. But isn't it the point of the BM to be able to exert enough suction for hands-free use without using anything else? From what I'm seeing in the forum, nearly everybody is able to go hands-free on the BM before using the VacuVin mod.

I just don't know what I'm doing wrong with my use of the BM. Did you need the VacuVin in order to get enough suction?

There’s a couple reasons you might not be able to make this happen. Have you trimmed your pubic hair down to about a quarter to an eighth of an inch? Have you tried putting a smear of Vaseline around the seal that touches your body?

Yep. As I mentioned in the first post, I'm as bare as a baby down there.

As for the Vaseline, it's next on my list of things to try. Yet I do have a question for you @DLD that I brought up in the initial post.

Is it safe for me to put Vaseline on either the comfort pad or the rubber gaiters themselves without damaging the Bathmate?

I'm perfectly fine with more rigorous washing and cleaning of the Bathmate as long as it gives me the hands-free suction I'm looking for.

Yes it is perfectly fine to use Vaseline around the seal and this will probably change the problem you’re having. I would wash the seal after use my first wife in as much of the Vaseline off as possible using paper towels and from there use dish soap to gently wash away the rest of the Vaseline.

Sounds good @DLD ! I'll use paper towels to wipe off as much Vaseline as possible from the seal, and then use dish soap (with some warm water) to wash away whatever Vaseline is left over.

I got some Vaseline at my home and will try this out tomorrow night. My results will be posted in my progress thread to show if it worked or not.
