Would you guys rather use a heating pad or a Hot Towel for Warm Ups / Warm Downs

I have heard of both sides and one that stuck with me was that a moist warmth is better than dry heat. A heating pad sure is a lot easier but is a dry heat. I haven't seen anyone state using a hot towel cabinet. I've seen them for 25 bucks on craigslist and seem simple enough. This could be setup in my room and not have to go into another room to the microwave. So I'm finally ready to buy one or the other. Do you think the hot towel cabinet is just too much work over the positives that come from having a wet heat?

I own a heating pad that comes with a piece of blue foam that you wet down in the sink, then stick back into the heating pad and you end up getting moist warmth/heat.


A warm wash cloth is my favorite thing to use, but it makes the warm up time take longer and is a bit messier. With a heating pad you can be more discreet about it. I like to warm up with the heating pad in my bedroom, then jump into the bathroom for PE. That way I'm not hogging up the bathroom forever reheating and reapplying the cloth when other people need to use it.
 
Thanks I'll look for a similar moist heating pad like you stated.
 
If you have the time a heating pad is best. I used it for an hour before a workout and then after I would keep it on for as long as I could. It helped retain temporary gains the whole while I wore it and it definitely aided in healing.
 
I'm a hardcore guy. I don't do any form of warm up at all. I just ease into my session for the first 2 mins to 5 mins. That's the warm up.
 
I use neither. I use a car interior heater and MOS-RED. The car interior heater is good since it blows warm air hard at you, in a narrow area. I don't think I would have made it so far without my car interior heater. I need my tissue warm and pliable/stretchable.
