do you mean instead of using heat...you are using cold water or an ice pack? i haven't dealt with a cool down...i remember one member here was doing both back in forth...they would use a heating pad for a few minutes then put on an ice pack or something like that for a few minutes...try to do a search for the thread
Cool down is just a term. You'll essentially be doing the same things in your cool downs as in your warm ups, except you may want to add some light massage.
Discussed by various texts that I've read is that "warming down" is detrimental to tissues which are being rehabilitated for increased range of motion (ligaments and other softer tissues). Warming them up is essential but allowing them to cool by themselves during a stretch is best.
