If you look at a chimpanzee and gorilla compared to humans, there is a strikingly similarity to our basic form: arms, legs, head, hands with 5 fingers. Yet the proportions of our cousins reveal their different, animal nature: large, sharp teeth, bulging, powerful neck muscles that (in the case of the gorilla) prevent the head from turning but make them many times stronger than us. All the physical parts on our cousins, because they are adapted to life without any of what we use to support ourselves, as an animal in a forest, is proportionally larger and more powerful, except for two important organs. One of them is obviously the brain. The other, however, is the penis.
The mighty gorilla has only but a 3 inch penis, and the chimp is not larger.
Scientists think that the penis got larger in humans because sexual selection played a large role in our evolution. This doesn't mean that females chose their mates only based on penis size, but that what genetics survived (in general) were based on selections made by females for better males, penis size being but one of many traits that could make a mate more desirable.
I'm no expert in this but i'm just reporting what i've heard, and i think its interesting stuff.
