SUPER BOWL: Your thoughts and predictions

Okay, no explanation needed. We, as men, just have to do this one.

What are your thoughts about the Steelers vs. the Seahawks for Super Bowl XL?

As a Pittsburgher and bigtime Steeler fan, I am obviously rooting for the Steelers.

The Steelers seemed to be underestimated by everyone throughout most of the regular seasons this year. When Ben was hurt during a couple times this year, the went into overtime and then lost against both Jacksonville and Baltimore. For whatever reason, Tommy Maddox was so awful in those games that clearly the Steelers would have won them even with a subpar performance from Roethlisberger. The Steelers were basically almost a 13-3 team when you take that into account. Their defense has just terrorized opposing QBs, covered receivers like a blanket, and contained the run in recent weeks.

Unfortunately, I didn't get much chance to watch the Seahawks this year. I saw them almost lose one at San Francisco and just manage to beat a mediocre Cowboys team. Yet, they just bitch-slapped Carolina senseless last night. Granted, Carolina was without any running game and had a banged-up defense, but it was brutal by any account. Clearly, the NFC is a weaker conference this year, all-round. Clearly, the Seahawks were almost given a 6-0 start by playing in what may be the worst division in football. Still, I am a little worried and I hope the Steeler coaching staff doesn't take them lightly.

I'll have to do more analysis for a prediction.

The Seahawks weren't really even tested when they played the Panthers. You could tell the Panthers werent as fired up and werent as prepared as the Seahawks. If they played before Chicago/Carolina game, Panthers could of won.

Seattle stopped Panthers only weapon, Steve Smith. Without Smith, of course Seattle will win easily, especially with a defense playing at 75% and a hurt Julius Peppers.

I dont think Seattle will be prepared to handle Steelers high powered offense and smasHydromaxouth run game. Nor will Seattle be able to handle the Pittsburgh Blitz. Seattle got pressure on Delhomme with just the front 4, sometimes 5. Ben Roethlisberger will be much better protected than that.

Steelers are superb at stoppin the run and their secondary has had much improvments. The game and the blitz pressure will be on Matt Hasselbeck and i dont think he can handle it. Not like Ben can. Seattle isnt even very good at the blitz.

I bet Cincinnati, Indianapolis or Denver would tear up the Seahawks, and Pittsburgh dominated all those teams. Any AFC playoff team could beat the #1 NFC team hands down.

Well, I've decided it isn't going to be the Penguins! But having said that, I'm definitely going for the Pittsburg Steelers. They're just ornery enough to pull it off.

outta curiosity, does anybody have money riding on the game? or going to?

Steelers are favored by 4 points for the game

......and 1.5 points at the half

I don't think it's a good bet, in my opinion. I suspect that the Steelers are more likely to blowout the Seahawks than the Seahawks would be to blowout the Steelers. However, as someone that has seen far more AFC matchups this year, I'm just not comfortable assessing the Seahawks against good competition.

so why wouldnt it be a good bet? if the steelers are likely to blowout the seahawks then it would be a good bet. if the steelers win by 5 points or more, you win.

Fact- Cinncy beat Pitt on Dec 4, 38 to 31. Mon Nov 28th Pitt got spanked by the Colts 26-7. So don't put Pitt up on a pedestal, there not that good. They seem to go through streakes of greatness, and streaks of being just average. They got lucky that the Colts did not return the fumble by Bettis for a touchdown. The recoverer made an awful decision by not trying to beat Big Ben to the sidelines. Then on top of that Vanderjack missed a FG to tie. Pitt is freaking lucky that they are still in it.

I got two players that will and can stop Pitts run and pass game. Grant Wistrom and Bryce Fisher. These guys have motors that just don't stop. Michael Boulware is young smart and can play SS great for his experience level.

On the other side of the ball, you have Alexander the great, nuff said. Hasselbeck is under-rated IMO. If Engram and Jackson can't get open, look Joe Jurevicius can make big plays at important times. Oh and there O-line is the best in the biz.

Big Ben is a good QB, not as prolific as Matt has been this year. Bettis and Parker will be stoped by the D-Line. That will force Big Ben to hit Ward and Randel-El. That is when Wistrom and Fisher come in to play. If they don't get him look out for Lofa Tatupu to come in and blast Ben.

IMO the Steelers can't match up point for point against this Seahawks team. I don't see it. The Greatest show on turf moved to the northwest. Its the Birds year. I feel it!

Then this is coming from a NFC west Fan. Go Rams!

Dude wtf. Sure the steelers got beat by cincy and by the colt IN THE REGULAR SEASON... Need i say more. The steelers are absolutly on fire, their defense is outstanding, and Big Ben just makes the right plays with little mistakes. They absolutly dominated the bungles, colts, and demolished the broncos all on their home turf. Cowher is an excellent coach and deserves this vicory and his team is gonna give it to him. THis is an opinion thread dude but i must say your points suck!!! Steelers are hot as hell they win at least by 10...

lol Well we'll just have to see about that! Like I my words are coming from a NFC West fan!

Cower is a good coach. So is Holgram, as he did win a SB with Green Bay? Since he is no longer General manager he can concentrate a lot more on just coaching.

How did Pitt dominate the Colts? Pitt had 305 yards of total offence, while the Clots had 348 yards of total offence?

Manning threw not one interception, Ben threw one. James was held to only 56 yards on the ground. I bet Alexander doubles that. And Hasselbeck trows for 300+.

Seahawks are underated big time. Will just see waht happens then.

Fair enough! Did you happen to watch the colts?pitt game. The only reason the score was close was the colts had a late comeback. Pitt had big lead throught the game. They got to Payton 5-6 times.
