It seems to have $200-$500 in equipment to buy, plus $75 or so in monthly access when you consider you have to have a second phone line for dedicated access to be on round the clock. Most services have a one-year contract or so, and I anticipate moving in the not too distant future. I'll check out Wildblue, but I'm probably stuck for the time being.
It might be the same but I have been using Starband satellite for 5 years at work and have had very little trouble with them and real nice performance. Also I just saw that Dish TV has the same option.
On another note a friend of mine picked up DSL from SBC for 14.95 - not that its avail in you area I just thought it was wierd so cheap.

equipment is like around 200 I think but I'm sure not more than 400. where direcway and starband and both around 400-600 for equipment. and where dway and starband service are about 60-100 a month wildblue is around 40-60 which is compariable to most dsl in cost and cheaper than cable in most areas. plus hate to say it but it significantly faster than starband or direcway. so it boils down to cheaper for equipment, and monthly service and out preforms existing satellite systems, and is useing the newest satellite technology. and on yeah and the dish is not much bigger than dishnetwork's dish 500 satellite dish. and uses only 1 coax from dish to house to the modem, so if your house is newer and prewired for cable and have a room you want to use it with a nice little wall jack and have a central location for all your "home run" cable lines, it can be a fairly speedy install.
Loco; yes right in the midle of the states,[Kansas],I'm trying net.zero bur I'm not impressed. I don't have 2 dimes to rub together much less $400 for equipment, and the local school has a satilight setup and it's out almost every time it storms, and it storms alot here, so that is not much of an option either.
