I met a girl about a month ago. She was very, very fine. I mean, way out of my range...this girl was COSMO material. SHe is a Smith College student, and again, insanely fine! I had a date with her tonight, SUNDAY, but I broke it off. I made up some excuse but I really was insecure and bailed out. SHe asked me to meet her tomorrow, MONDAY, and I said I would but, again, I am thinking of a way out of it! Why is it so hard to start dating again?

That's a bummer - Smith is an all girls school, and as I recall a lot of them don't get out much. Think of the legendary status you would have earned had you clinched on that one.

Seriously though, don't take dating tips from the internet and "Dr Love 101" type shit seriously. That stuff is catering to inexperienced guys. Women just want you to be funny, interesting, condfident, or some combination, but just be yourself - they don't expect everything to be perfect and amazing at all times - if they do they're either psycho or they haven't been socializing much themselves.

I think if you build it up too much for yourself and worry a lot, that will come out in how you interact with women. Approach it calmly and you'll come off as calm, and you'll have more fun. First dates are always a little awkward, but nothing will blow it for you quicker than if you seem nervious, edgy, or over eager.

Hey, i'm fairly young and modern, like has already been said, just act natural, they will see right through an act and will think you are insecure if you try to be cool all the time, talk about music, and have a look at the charts first so you can quote some songs by the band she likes ect.., just keep complementing her and flirt, but try to aviod cheesy chat up lines.

DLD you're a cool guy, and good-looking, you have absolutely nothing to worry about AND shes eager to meetup with you which means she already likes you a lot, it's basically in the bag if you just act normal and escalate the sexual tension properly (i.e dont stay in friend zone, its obvious she wants you, but dont be too aggressive either)

Just go with it...that is how you date again. Don't place any added significance to this short amount of time you'll spend with someone especially if you just met. What's the worst that could happen? It doesn't matter really because I know that you'll survive the worst. Some people have ended up married after having had disastrous first dates. Just show them a good time by having fun. (not wild uncontrolled fun that involves you passing out or anything..unless you want to of course) The next time just remember... It's just a date. You've got shit to do the next day anyway.
