Eating Disorder. Please Help

I think I have an eating disorder and I don't know what to do about it. I am 22 years old, 5' 10" or 11", and I weigh 212 pounds. I've got a pretty hefty gut and I'm sick of it. But I LOVE food and therein lies my problem. I'm one of those people that live to eat instead of eat to live. To give you an idea of how much I can and normally do eat you need to be familiar with Fudruckers. I get the full pound burger with cheese, green chili, and mayo on it. I have an order of onion rings or fries with it. Then for desert I have a couple of their delicious chocolate chunk cookies and a cream cheese brownie. After all of this food and a coke or two I still don't feel completely full. I don't eat this much all the time but I eat probably 80% of that per meal on a daily basis and I'm never full. I know I need to change my eating habits if I want to lose weight but I'm not sure what to do. I also need to start jogging but in the past I've always had bad blisters on my feet after a few days. I think good running shoes would take care of that but I need help in that area too. I really need to change my appearance because I used to be in good shape back in high school and girls would actually look at me and compliment me every now and then. But now they hardly ever look at me and it makes me feel bad. Are there any appetite suppressants that are safe? I think if I ate less and started jogging without blisters that I'd be successful in losing weight but please give me some advice if you can.

P.S. I have a pretty busy schedule so I need as much convenience and quickness as possible as far as food goes.

lol man first off 212 at 5'11 aint that bad. Well sounds like you done eat enough during the day. You have to have a good breakfast to start your metabolism up. Then you should eat about 8 small meals through out the day im talking small not like a sandwich or anything. And you have to walk and lift. Lifting increases ur metabolism and walking eats up the calories. Try your best to drink a gallon of water a day this will flush out ur system and take away a shit load of calories. So instead of soda just drink water, it'll be hard at first but trust me it gets a lost easier i havent had anything but beer and water for like 5 months. O yea and i wouldnt go to crazy on the liqour, even tho a little liqour is suppossedly good for ur metabolism or sumtin.

o yea dont eat past 7 PM if you can help it, because by then ur metabolism will be dying down

Try cutting things out slowly. Onion rings and fries can be worse than you think. Try a salad instead. Keep fruits and veggie to snack on between meals. If you try to suddenly change, it most likely wont work. Just make little changes to start with.

Also try to control your mindset with food. Do not let yourself fantasize about what you will have for lunch, and stuff like that.

That is going to be hard to do, not fantasizing about food. I'll start eating foods that are better for me along with foods that I like and I'll also start exercising in some form. This should help me out quite a bit. Thanks for the help,

Gomer, I feel you on this like a muthaflucka! I am the same way I LOVE FOOD and I can put it down. I have tried dieting but I just end up at a KFC on a 3 hour binge. I have realized that, for me, a normal diet will not work. I am now 209 at 5 10", the only good thing about my physique is that I am naturally very muscular but this does nothing for the health element. This is what I do and when I stick with it I loose weight without too much sacrifice.

DLD's Not Really a Diet DIET

1.) Eliminate the soda from your diet. This in itself will be good for an instant weight loss. I have gotten very used to sweet and low and water with a spray of lemon. This is paramount to starting a system that will work for guys like us. Simple Sugars is the devil.

2.) Eat more frequently. If you are like me you get dumb hungry right when it gets dark. It's some vampire shit but I crave food instead of blood. I have to almost force myself to eat throughout the day but again this is paramount to this diet. Eat every few hours (not too much) You will quickly see that this will have a HUGE effect on nighttime bingeing, it wont eliminate it but we are not looking to change the world here, just get in better shape.

3.) Don't worry about what you are eating. For me, when I put restrictions on any food I become obsessed with the food and end up failing. Food is open to you, choose what you want. The only thing to watch is that everything is in moderation and balanced. If you love steak, eat it! If you love burgers, eat them! but, be sure to include a balanced amount of fruit, vegetables and starch with it. As long as you are sticking with whole foods, the options are limitless. Stay away from processed, packaged or fast food (for the most part). I let myself hit KFC or McDonald's once a week to get my fix on but the daily trips are over.

4.) Exercise! I know this word sucks donkey dick but it needs to be in there somewhere. I keep it very, very simple. I take a walk everyday for 20 minutes. Thats it, nothing special, just enough to get things moving. I don't even see this as exercise, I use the time to think about shit and get my life in order. Sort of a mental pause.

Another side thing to exercise is make an effort to stop being lazy. Laziness is more of a habit than anything else. I find if I put the effort in I can eliminate it completely from my world. Simple shit like Parking in the back of the lot and walking, putting things away, shoveling the snow, washing the car, etc. Just basic daily shit, it all adds up.

5. Lastly, but most important, WATER. Tons and tons of water. As much as you can drink, whenever you can drink it.

If you follow this dumb, easy diet I guaranty you will see shit change with very little effort.

Everything DLD said is great advice. The only thing I can add to that is that firstly, as was said before, eat breakfast (a filling breakfast) even try to make that your biggest meal if possible. But at that breakfast eat lots of eggs. Eggs, despite cholesterol talk, are proven to reduce your appetitie significantly, and I can personally attest to how getting filled up with eggs in the morning can kill your appetite for the rest of the day. Also a natural supplement that can help with appetite is L-Glutamine. You can find it at any GNC and it definitley helps with sweets cravings, as well as general appetite control, and if you start working out it will help promote lean mass on your body.

Sweet, thanks guys. I think I'll be able to do this pretty easily once I get the hang of it. I've also tried Schwan's low carb ice cream and it is DAMN good for any ice cream, much less low carb ice cream. There is also a diet that I forgot about that I used a couple years ago and I dropped 20 pounds in a month with it. It is called the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet and here is how it went:

2 meals a day with NO SNACKING AT ALL in-between meals
Little or NO carbs for lunch-salad, swiss cheese, ham, turkey, etc.
Start dinner off with 2 cups of salad
Have whatever I want, finish dinner in 1 hour or less

Very very simple and effective. I can't believe I forgot about this but I have had a lot of beer and weed since then.:) I swear on my life that I dropped 20 pounds in a month doing this but it is hard to stick with, especially with peer pressure to go out and party. I say this because not snacking is critical to success with this diet. I'll try it again and stay dedicated this time and I'll let you all know how it goes.
Gomer

P.S. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll definitely take what you've told me into consideration.

Only 2 meals a day?

no.

Thats rediculousness.

Listen to the advice given above, and don't let me get involved in giving you a diet plan. :P I am currently on a bulking diet, and eating whatever the hell I want to eat. If necessary I will tell you how, why, and what is involved in this. It may involve a few cuts for you, but the way I'm doing things, having around 2500-3000 calories isn't a problem.

BUT, don't even think you're going to lose weight in a healthy manner by only having 2 meals per day. Its just not good.

have a light breaky... go for a 20 mins walk (like DLD said)... work... have non-greasy lunch at work.. maybe a salad and chicken/beek roll and water.. go back to work .. buy some lil snack bars.. the ones that are like 1gram of fat (they r great to nibble on as they take edge away from wanting to eat crap)... keep working, finish work, dont eat straight away, as it will become a habbit to open the fridge every time you walk into the house (ie: weekends.. days off), have a moderate dinner, though if you had breaky and a nice lunch you wont have to/feel like have a big plate of this and that.

Thats what I would do...

oh and instead of going and getting bugers and sht, go to subway, get the fot long (they are huge and would probably challenge that 1 pounder burger mate)

cool, may the force be with you jedi knight.

working out will help alot ...because you have weight on you that you can turn to muscle...its harder for a skinny guy to become muscular than a fat or bigger guy...because he has the weight to work off...sign up for a gym and do weight lifting ..that can help

Fudruckers is kick ASS! Their burgers are ginormous...

1) Try to fit in carbs in the morning (ie: orange juice, oatmeal mm peaches n cream) so you have energy throughout the day and get daily carbs early instead of late, which will pack on as fat while you sleep.

2) Try to get protein later in day, this helps to get full but not overeat with sweets and carbs... it also helps with weight lifting to get a nice big chunk of protein right before you sleep (although a constant stream of protein is good and a bit of quick carbs right after building to refuel muscles)

3) Drink lots of glasses of COLD water. Many times people thing they are hungry it is truly dehydration, hard to explain, but thirst is not the only body signal you need water. Plus it takes 60 calories for the body to warmup a glass of cold water, 10 glasses a day is 600 calories, that is a complete fatty meal from McDonalds or something.

4) Start lifting weights 2 times a week, one day lower body, one day upper body, 1 set to complete failure (will need spotter) 6-8 reps

5) Do some distance running like try 2 miles a day, ever nonlifting day (so 5 days a week), try and get it up to 3-5 miles a day and vary your run so it isnt boring... fuck treadmills and bikes.. run outside in the real world, and ditch tracks unless your doing HIT (high intensity training which Ill get into)

6) Once you lost some of that gut and your just a little pudge change your distance workouts to interval sprints... like do one lap 80% (not 70 not 100,) walk around the track once and repeat for 5 sprints. HIT, like sprint intervals, burn way more calories than long distance running, but are harder to do when pudgy

7) Ditch the abs for now... too many people that are overweight work on abs and its ridiculous. It is a HUGE reason why they fail in their goal. You cannot target fat loss. To lose fat, you lose a bit from everywhere, while some areas remain stubborn! Situps will not cause you to lose fat specifically on your abs, and are extremely less effective, and more difficult than running.

8) Ab training is for building ab muscle, not for losing weight.

9) Diet is hugely important. Find your cruising caloric intake (average daily calories - over a period of a month where you do not lose or gain weight). Then subtract the amount of calories daily you want and think you can take to lose the weight you want.

10) I believe muscle is 3600calories/1lb and fat is 600calories/1lb. Want to lose 5lb in a week you need to cut out ~430cal/day, so if your cruising caloric intake is 3,000cal/day and you want to lose 5lb in one week, you need to take in 2670cal/day for that week or burn off 430 calories/day in exercise.

11) This is why diet isnt useful without exercise, and exercise isnt useful without diet. 10x 8oz cold water a day is -600 cal, running 2 miles... 200 calories maybe? Not sure... but you see if you just watch diet and workout, both in a smart fashion loosing weight is easy...

I RECCOMEND DOWNLOADING OF A P2P PROGRAM

It explains it all perfectly and is awesome for any dieter/bodybuilder
