Spray it down with Lysol and your good.

I was told caustic cleaners should not be used on the static stretcher. I'm not exactly sure why, but I wonder if it would have a negative effect on the bio-adhesive for one thing.

I just found this thread: CurEvents.com - A Global Current Events Discussion Forum - Using Lysol As A Disinfectant

Maybe rubbing alcohol will be okay, but this may be why Lysol is a no go. The coating would very likely be detrimental to the bioadhesive and maybe even the velcro. I'm not sure about the rubbing alcohol either, but better chance than lysol it seems. I was told to just use antibiotic hand soap. The [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/mosdvd.htm]DVD[/words] that comes with the stretcher is supposed to have full cleaning instructions too I guess.

Using Lysol As A Disinfectant

Don't know where to post this, so this will have to do.

Be warned that if you use the Lysol spray be very careful where you spray it.

It puts a coating on everything that is hard as nails and you can't get it off with kitchen cleanser, steel wool, scrub pads, etc.

You will not want to coat your computer screens, mirrors, windows. adding machines or anything like that. It leaves a blurry coating that is a mess.

I would suggest bleach water or something to that affect for disinfecting computer equip, mirrors and etc.

I know this because a manager in an office I use to work in sprayed lysol on everything when someone was sick with colds or flu. She ruined most of the equip. because of this stuff. We had a credit card machine you could barely read because of this coating. Had to get another one.

I just want to add that if this stuff is putting this kind of coating on everything then it's also going into your lungs and who knows what type of residue it might be leaving there. Never spray in the same room a patient is in.

My wife & I shake our heads at the Lysol commercials on TV - two young boys playing the piano and one sneezes. The mom grabs the lysol and practically sprays their hands to get at the piano keys. That's got to be healthy...

How good is rubbing alcohol as an alternative to lysol? I use a spray bottle of that if a bug gets in the house. It's flammable, but evaporates rapidly. A couple of sprays will take a fly out of the air and you can just grab it with a tissue and throw it away. I figure it's just killing germs where it lands as opposed to bug spray which could also be damaging my family.

That's what I use - rubbing alcohol

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's dirt cheap, works & evaporates quickly.

At the bingo hall, ( very cheap owner), at the end of the late session we're expected to wash down every surface where players have sat. He uses what I think is simply straight vinegar. It must work as I've been working there 2 years & after the first few months, stopped dragging home colds such. Another good reason to do it as a volunteer gig - LOL; I figure once or twice a week I get low enough doses of most of what is going around to keep the immune system working.

No name window cleaner works fine too & some of those appear to be based on alcohol, others on ammonia. Whatever - it doesn't gum up stuff the way Lysol or Dettol can.
