Why would taking a multivit be awesome? ,unless your diet is shite then there is no need to suppliment with multivits.

I agree. It wouldn't hurt to throw in the $5 year supply of wal-mart multi vitamins. Just don't spend lots of money on a multivitamin.

I would say that 100-200 years ago you didn't need a multivitamin(did they exist then?)!The planet was in a healthier condition.......and everything was grown on unpolluted lands, with no pesticides! So what you get now is substandard foods, low in nutrients.........that is nowhere the quality is was years ago.Organic is the way to go......but even it will have some contamination. So go with organic, and a multivitamin............and also add some antioxidants to get rid of free radicals.

There is a big debate as to wether organic food actually is better for you,in the uk the food standards agency said that organic food is no better than any other, this of course didn't go down well with healthy eating groups like SOIL.

There is conflicting opinions all over the net,you can find evidence for and against if you look, the term organic free range ect. is open to abuse very easily.

For the average person they would be better off eating more fruit and veg in general rather than poping a pill to make up for there shortfall in eating a poor diet,i wonder how many people if they are honest eat the minimum of 5 portions of fruit and veg a day.

"Organic" is in many ways worse than regular supermarket food. It spoils ridiculously fast and costs you three times as much. It is often no healthier than regular supermarket food, and you are more likely to get infected by microorganisms that grow on the pesticide-free produce (unless you wash diligently). The only advantage is that "organic" food is free of pesticides, which would wash off if you are diligent about washing your produce (which you need to be if you decide to purchase "organic" anyways).

The nutritional content is not much higher than regular supermarket food, and why pay three times as much for a tiny bit extra. Pay $5 for a bottle of multi-vitamins and call it a day.

Well a reason I take a multivitamin is because I do not have the best diet, and even when a person does diet they usually eat close to the same stuff everyday but then they are lacking nutrition in other areas. A multivitamin helps you to get the stuff you are missing from regular eating habits. I was recently taking GNC's Ultra Mega Gold, but I read Animal Pak is the best rated for some years now. The price is only $25 and that's like paying $.50 a day which I do not find a big deal at all. I lift a bunch of weights and do not eat the best and Animal Pak is suppose to help both these factors.

I would suggest taking 2 multivitamins, twice a day. A total of 4. Those pills aren't as bioavailable as they should be.

...Its not too much. The only possible danger really is the copper/zinc factor, which most likely will not get out of hand. You will get better, more potent results this way (more energy, better healing).

Also, extra B6 and a sublingual B complex, fish oil, C.

V8 juice is better than no vegetables. Just don't drink tons, its got quite a bit of sodium.

don't eat mcdonalds, or most fast foods. Wendy's and Chik Fil a, subway, are the best fast food choices.

Mcdonalds, captain D's, krystal, etc....cook with trans fat and bad cholesterols, which will wreck your testosterone levels. Stay away!

Buy a loaf of whole wheat bread, V8, and a few other healthy staples and use them to your advantage!

Thanks for all the posts and the guys at GNC agreed with most of you, Animal Pak they felt was not the best. They gave me the GNC Mega Men Sport which has vitamins necessary and amino acids to help liftin performance, only 15 dollars for 90 pills too, not a bad deal!

I am not sure which is the best brand, however i had some multi-vitamin powder which worked wonders, while i have fairly dark skin because i tan easily, i do not have that healthy pinkishness to me, after using multi-vitamins for a few weeks, i had people saying how pink i looked, so go for it.

I have a question, i stopped taking the vitamin pills about two weeks ago, and as they took 3 weeks before i noticed a effect before, will i have to wait another three weeks before they affect me again, complexion wise, i hav'nt lost my complexion though.

Some vits/mins are toxic in high dosages and can have a variety of side effects, taking 4 a day is silly imo.

One of the minerals almost no healthy man needs is supplemental iron. The link between iron supplements in men and liver cancer is pretty GD convincing. I stay away from it as much as I can.
Almost everybody needs the B-complex, and I'm a dyed-in-the-wool proponent of fairly high (5-6 grams a day) vitamin C intake.
Just remember that the two main reasons to take a supplement is just that: to supplement. You are, 1) making up for dietary deficiencies (which, sadly we ALL suffer from to one degree or another) and, 2) battling environmental toxins, which, again, we all suffer from.
(Hell, they even found pollution in a snow core sample from the peak, the fuckin' Penis EnlargementAK of Mt. Everest! )
Also, don't forget that vitamins don't "work" without food, they ain't a substitute. And the better quality of food you eat; the better the vitamins will help out.
Many foods are "anti-nutrients", and will literally suck the life outta ya.
Processed, refined, cooked...all on the short list. I can't remember who it was who said it, but I try to follow this advice as much as I can: "If man made it, don't eat it".
It can get kinda expensive, but a doctor of mine once said , "Yeah, but how much is it worth to ya to not be in the hospital dyin', hooked up to tubes and wires?"

I try to look at a good diet and supplements as the cheapest, most effective health insurance I could buy for myself.
Good luck to ya.

For those who believe that a healthy diet is all you need, pay attention. Its a matter of simple matHydromaxatics. Your average vegetable takes at least 5, most likely more, minerals from the soil, modern agriculture replaces 3 minerals back into the soil. Add that up over decades and your left with nutrient deficient vegetables.
The animals we eat for meat are raised by modern agriculture on unnatural grain based feed instead of green natural plants & grasses. This leads to the animal having higher levels of bad fats, and lower levels of good fats, the animals are generally unhealthy, so when we eat them, we become unhealthy.
I could go on and on.
I am a supplement nut, and have been for years, the best multi vitamin/mineral available in my opinion is called Life Essence by Pure Essence Labs. Simply calling it a multivitamin is misleading, I tend to call it a broad range multi-nutrient tablet. There is so much good stuff in these tablets, they replace several products. I know I sound like a salesman, but I personally dont go a day without it. Check it out.
Another essential is an Omega fatty acid blend. Wal-mart has a great one called Super Omega complex. It has a blend of the essential fats (good fats) needed for heart health, mood regulation & proper testosterone levels in men.
Modern food is empty, supplements fill the gap.
