Should I shave my head?

My hair has been getting on my nerves lately for some reason. I am considering getting the clippers out and shaving my head down to a 1/8" or so. The problem is I am looking for a new job. Do you think the shaved head is inappropriate for those circumstances? Some people keep their head shaved all the time, so I hardly know what to think.

Do it. I have a shaved head, well not completely shaved. Around the length you're thinking about on the top and zero on the sides and back, I like to think of it as a bald-fade but most people can't tell it's faded on the sides. It's neat and clean looking, and it's also one less thing you have to worry about doing in the morning. Oh, and the girls love it.

Yeah man, and if you have to wear a suit to work it'll give you an excuse to wear one of those cool fedora hats or sumthin'. Then you you'll look cool as fuckLMAO .

im a business manager at a rather large company and do about one interview per week. From my point of view, so long as you fit the criteria for the job, ie ur qualified, have good references, are well spoken, polite, confident and humble nothing else really matters. I myself have a shaved head, im starting to go bald so i razor it every day. Short hair is smarter imo neway.
If people are worried about ur hair, then their not doing their job correctly.

It depends on what you are comfortable with and what you look like too because you don't want to look like a penis in any way, shape, or form. Guys tend to shorten their hair to try something new more than they try to grow it out, but it really depends on what you want. As long as you aren't dying your hair purple and plan on dreading it later I doubt you'll cross that line of looking less than professional. I used to get my hair real short all the time, but now that I'm older I really don't care so much just as long as I'm comfortable with it. I mean it sounds like to me you're looking to go all Michael Douglas on us Falling Down style.

I should wear some kind of hat, because I'm a very fair-skinned redhead and my scalp will burn if it is exposed to the sun.

I guess I mostly worried about the "skinhead" thing, but so many people shave their heads these days I don't think it really carries any kind of negativity in that regard.

Do it bud, its very comforatable. And as for the job thing, I believe having a shaved head looks very clean and "intellectual."

Dont worry about the skinhead thing either, as long as you dont wear white tshirts with red suspenders and combat boots, your fine :p.

My head is shaved...go for it. Don't have to worry about hair anymore. Just make sure you clean your scalp.

My man shaves his head (not completly....just as you described), and it's so soft and velvety.....I LOVE IT. And as long as your dressed okay, looking professional shouldn't be an issue!

GO FOR IT!

It really depends. No matter what people may say on this board or in the real world when it comes to starting/applying for new employment having a shaved head may cast you in a negative light to any prospective employer/new co-workers. Is this fair? Absolutely not. Does it happen? All the time. I shave my head about once a year. I started doing this in 2001 for the same reasons you would like to.

Here's the thing. With a regular short haircut I have that pretty boy/GQ thing going on. When I'm shaved I look straight gangster. I'm a total chameleon, people always tell me that. Normally when I run with my dogs people always go to the side to give me space as I pass (one of the dogs is a presa-canario, they look like pitbulls but twice as big). If I have the gangsta thing going on they cross to the other side of the street...at a rather rapid rate. I had to go to court a couple years ago (never try to board an airplane with a 4" boot knife and two 15 round 9mm mags at capacity with silver tipped hollow points...especially if you forgot they were on your person...it happened believe it or not). I had the shaved head and goatee at time. You could have cut the judges prejudice with a knife.

Long story short. Get the new job. Let people get to know you a little bit. THEN shave your head to fuck with theirs.LMAO

For the record, I have been looking at sales/account rep type positions, so I need to be professional enough in the minds of various business owners going forward.

Man, I bet that sucked. Did the judge show you any mercy or was he ruthless?

Yeah it did suck. Against everyone's advice I represented myself. I do believe in getting a lawyer for certain things(I have two working for me now on another matter) but not always. I was able to produce documentation that explained the contraband and that combined with my background prevented any jailtime. Legally the judge should have returned my property but being the ass that he was he refused. Perhaps with a lawyer I would have had it returned but the attorney fees would have far outweighted it's value. The thing that really sucks is that those were pre-ban clips and they are no longer made for civlian use, therefor they are hard to come by and rather pricey. If anyone on this board has a source for this type of stuff I would be very interested (don't worry they are legal to own and sell, just no longer manufactured for us civie fucks).

With your line of work I highly recommend you postpone the dome until you secure the job for awhile. Good luck by the way. Job hunting can really suck sometimes. It always feel like you're starting at the bottom, at least in my circles anyway.

I thought they were now legal to manufacture again, as I thought that prohibition was part of what was called the Assault Weapons Ban.

Thanks. It does suck. I do feel as though I am starting at the bottom. However, I am working at the bottom. It would be hard for me to hate my job any more than I do.

If that's true then it's news to me and some of the best I've heard in a long time. I know there was recent activity in the last year with that bill but I thought the part about clip capacity was still the same. I'll check it out, I sure hope you're right.

My best friend in Reno has forgotten more about gun laws than I'll ever know. If I talk to him tomorrow, I'll ask.

That sounds like a good way to keep the flees and ticks out. Also shave your bollocks as well.

I did end up shaving it pretty close, but it's grown back enough now that it looks okay for most any situation. I've been in job interviews for the past few weeks now and have felt comfortable about my hair length.
