What do you guys use? This has been brought to my attention because I've read that some guys use whatever they can find for weight ie, watergallons, fans, etc.
Same here, 45 lbs. The ankle weights work good, though I now use a regular 5lb circular weight and 1 ankle weight (with 4lbs worth of sand bags in it).
I made a hanging spindle or post to put my weights on. Made from a 1 inch diameter piece of aluminum 6 1/2 inches long. I drilled and tapped a 1/4 inch hole on one end and attached a 2inch washer with a screw. The weight rests on this washer. On the other end a drilled and tapped a 1/8 inch hole to receive a 1/8 inch eye bolt. The hanger attaches to the eye bolt. I can stack regular weights very easily on this spindle. It would probably hold 100 pounds. I could never imagine hanging that much weight so I should be fine with this.

I made my hanger set up. After 4 attempts to get one comfortable, I made my best one yet. 1-1/2” pvc conduit 45 degree bend. I glued an insole pad, and attached a smaller carabiner to attach weights.
1/4” threaded rod at Home Depot, a “fender” washer, and nut. Weights are a single 5 lb steel “puck(?)” and some 1 lb lead bars I found on eBay.
I just started thinking about getting the Malehanger. It looks to be better than what I have been using. I have had some great success lately, after getting back to “work” !
Creative, but very cumbersome looking. As far as weights, those are available in so many places these days and a guy doesn't need a whole gym's worth to hang. 10 pounds in small plates is good for the first 2-3 months. I also suggest a set of "fractional" weight plates. These are on sites like Amazon. They are under different brands and prices, but all the same in what they do. They come (usually) in sets of pairs in 1/4 pound, 1/2 pound, 3/4 pound and 1 pound plates.
