Its a newish film Based on former Marine Anthony Swofford's best-selling 2003 book about his pre-Desert Storm experiences in Saudi Arabia and about his experiences fighting in Kuwait.

Website is here http://www.jarheadmovie.com/welcometothesuck.html

I myself have a copy of the film from the USA that a freind got me and I have to say I didnt enjoy the film at all.

For me it was too American, if you know what I mean? I know it's a US film and US Marines but I feel that the whole story was just USA USA USA and no one else existed, it was hyped far too much and it seemed that the US were the heroes as usual rofl

I will get flamed for the above, but try to understand from a non-US stand point.

The film did however have some advantages for me.
One of those was it had a tight story line that reminded me of the Thin red line and had real emotion, wasnt way over the top like say apoclypse now.

Overall this film is those who love the USA and are from the USA.
Anyone who isnt an American IMHO won't enjoy this film.

If the film didnt have a tight storyline and some emotion than I say it was utter shit, but I'm willing to say its just a shit film instead and also at the wrongtime aswell, and yeah I know the directer is British so I guess praise to him because the film is so far up its own arse, its unreal.

Former Marine here. Haven't seen the movie, but I read the book. The author is widely reviled among Marines for being a liar and self-promoter. He got his combat action ribbon by a technicality (you're supposed to take and return fire to earn it, he never fired his weapon). His book is filled with whining, self-aggrandizing and lies.

The film, from what I've heard, is a lot better, parsing out the self-infatuation and telling a solid story. I don't understand RedZulu's comlaint about it being USA-centric, it's about Americans. Kind of like watching "Brave Two Zero" and complaining it didn't have enough stuff about the US Air Force.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the producer and director was British.

Yeah, Sam Mendes I said this in my lastline.

Like I said, this film is only for those who are from the USofA or have relatives in that region and are patriotic to it which is unlike most war films where most people will enjoy them, but this shit I cant stand.

Let's face it, America is not a very humble country!!!It's loud and in your face!!No wonder so many countries despise it!!Media, and Hollywood, don't do it any favours at all!!!

Hollywood and Media are owned by Liberals. That shows you why this country has gone down hill and continues to do so.

I'm not going to argue to people who despise America.
