Red clothes make the man
Men who want to go down well with the women and are contemplating a clothes shopping expedition would do well to first read the article that Andrew Elliot published recently in the Journal of Experimental Psychology.
According this British psychologist, women find men more attractive if they are wearing red.
For many animals the colour red indicates fertility and readiness for sex. As psychologists are into biology, Elliot decided to research whether the same applies to humans. In 2008 he published a study which suggests that men find women more attractive if they are wearing red. [J Pers Soc Psychol. 2008 Nov;95(5):1150-64.] In his recently published study the psychologists examines the attractiveness of men for women.

Eliot devised an experiment in which 21 female students looked at photos of men’s faces.
On one occasion the photos had a neutral background and on the other they had a red background. The students found the men more attractive in the photos with a red background.

In a similar experiment the students then had to look at photos of men wearing either blue or red shirts.

And once again, – on a scale of 0 to 10 – the students scored the men about 1.5 points more attractive when they were wearing a red shirt. The extent to which the students were interesting in having sex with the men [Desired Sexual Behavior] rose by 1.5 points too for the men in red shirts.
Students also estimated that the red-shirted men had a couple of points higher level of education and income.
"Red is typically thought of as a “sexy” color for women only", the researchers conclude, "but our findings indicate that a red–sex link is also applicable to men."
