raw powder in pills

anyone have info on putting raw powder into pills or caps? how do you do it?

To make them into pills or tablet, you need an expensive machine to press them into their shape... capping powders is pretty easy. You mix the powder with some type of filler and mix it real well. To get to propper dose of the powder, you divide the total weight of the filler/powder combo by the total grams of the powder that you added to the filler. That will give you the amount of powder per gram of the combined mix. Then you just weigh out the amount of mix that equals the dose you want and pour it into the caps. You can buy cappers like cap-m-quick to do the capping easier.

please explain more. or even pm me if you'd prefer on finding filler and properly measuring things out with filler. and if I am understanding it correctly isn't there still a chance of the mix just being "close" to that amount of "active ingredient"? and this may sound bad but what would be wrong with just putting the raw powder with no filler in the caps?

Yes, you are correct that the actual dose may not be exact... it just depends on how well you mix the filler with the base powder. This is the way that pharma companies and pharmacies cap powders.

You could just measure out the powder and cap it, but some powders are very fine and if the doses are very low like 10 or 20mg, then it will take a very accurate scale to measure it out exact. Also, if the powder is very fine then 10mg of it will be almost nothing.

I think a better alternative to capping is to make an oral solution. By dissolving the powder in a known quantity of solvent, it is very easy to accurately dose.

oh I agree but I gotta like the convience of a pill/capsule. and so that is my goal. also what kind of filler would I use? and how much in weight do 0 and 00 caps hold?

ok I found a great filler. so now basicly if I get this right you suggest taking the amount of active powder and mixing "x" amount of filler to it, mixing well, and then capping? cap question above I am still courious about. and will a blender work well for mixing the mixture so you have a well mixed product?

Things to know when making oral capsules:

Making capsules properly can be just as tricky as keeping your workplace sterile for making an injectable.

Shopping list for making capsules:
1. capsules, I use size ‘0’ capsules, they hold around 500mg of powder.
2. capsule making ‘machine’. I use a cap ‘em quick with the tamper.
3. Hormone or ‘active’ ingredient.
4. Filler, I like to use good ole ‘all purpose flour’ but anything of the same grain will work well
5. mortar and pestle or Tupperware container or Ziploc bag.

When making capsules it is important to get the densities of the powders you’ll be using so that you can correctly mix them.
You’ll want to fill and weigh a reasonable selection of capsules so as to get a good number for how much of each ingredient will properly fit into a single capsule. You know how much active ingredient you want to use so that and the amount of each you can fit into capsules are the constants in the ratio and the value you want to find is the amount of filler.

This is the equation you’ll want to use X=(Y*Z)/W
X is the amount of filler to be used, Y is the amount of active desired, Z is the amount of filler that will fit into a whole capsule, and W is the amount of active that will fit into a whole capsule. Then multiply X by the number of capsules you wish to make and that is the total amount of filler you will need.

To properly mix your powder and filler you should use the geometric dilution method. That is, add your active ingredient to the bag/Tupperware or mortar, then add an equal amount of the filler, after that has been thoroughly mixed, add in another portion of filler equal to the previous total and mix again, repeat until all filler has been added. This will make for the most even distribution of the active ingredient.
