Hi, I'm Phil and I'm 20. For about 2 years I've been taking venlafaxine (effexor XL) for depression and anxiety. Today I got an ECG done as I may be going on beta-blockers to help with my anxiety. It should be noted that I take my Effexor (225mg) in the mornings, and that after I have breakfast, and 3 hours or so afterwards, I feel nauseous, and occasionally notice an elevated heart rate during this 3 hour window. For the rest of the day I feel fine.
Anyway, my ECG showed a "glitch" as the Nurse called it. She said that it wasn't for her to say what it could be, but that it was probably nothing to worry about, and that I should wait until I see my psychiatrist who requested the results. I had a look at it just now, and it says that it "cannot rule out Inferior Infarct". I looked this up online, and know that an infarct is an area of the heart muscle that has died (necrosis). As you can imagine, I'm a bit worried. I don't see my psychiatrist to give him these results until next week, and really don't want this weighing on my mind until then, especially as I tend to worry a lot more due to my anxiety troubles. I'm 6'2", 13 stone 7, and don't smoke or drink. I also work out regularly, and take 100% Whey from ON. I haven't actually worked out for a couple of weeks because I've been ill with a cold, so I've been taking no creatine or glutamine like I usually would.
I read that it can be quite normal for young men in particular to have odd ECG results that could indicate an infarct, that are actually completely normal. Do you think I'm ok?
Has anyone ever had weird ECG results that were actually nothing?
