Subject: Outdated /index.html Still Public

Just a heads-up — the old “server recovery” page from the January downtime is still live at:

Code:
https://mattersofsize.com/index.html

It’s currently indexed by Google and appears in search results.
For someone landing on it from Google, it looks like MOS is still down.

Why it matters:
  • Confuses members and visitors who find it instead of the live forum.
  • Gives the impression the site is inactive or abandoned.
  • May be cached and reused by scraper sites.

Quick fix options:
  1. Remove or rename the file from the server.
  2. Add a redirect from /index.html to the current homepage.
  3. Use Search Console’s “Remove outdated content” tool to clear it from Google’s index.

This one is an easy win to prevent unnecessary confusion and keep search results clean.

Yes, those files have already been removed since March and after the prior restoration when IBM crashes caused us to restored full backups. Each time we did a full restoration when IBM server crashed, I have to remove those files manually. If you see it live, it may be based on an old archival cache that is not part of the server.
